Spears, Merriman or Clayton....three top players...three great character players...three Saban type players.
I'm with the obviously intelligent fishypete, when it comes to Spears and Merriman anyway. IMO, #7 is a little too high for Clayton and I think we could get him at #18 if we want him.

Merriman isn't a reach at #7. He is another Saban type guy. Great athlete.
That is for sure. Anyone who thinks Merriman is a reach at #7 either hasn't seen him play or is blind, IMO. Shawne Merriman = Willie McGinest when he was 21 years old and Willie went in the top ten of round 1.

You guys think if we trade with minny.....we will get their 7,18,and 2nd....is that fair?

I would love this to happen!
We won't get 7, 18, and a 2nd. Equal value would be 7, 18 and a 4th, but just 7 and 18 is only a difference of 50 points, 2600 vs 2550, on the trade value chart I have. I would try to get the 4th too, but if Minny holds fast at just giving up the 7 and 18, I'd take it in this draft.

I totally agree....Saban can make up a 4th rounder or more later in the draft.

We might draft Rodgers at #2 overall, so why wouldnt we at 7?

Possible....but I'm looking at certain teams that may trade up for Clayton...at 18 he's a steal....maybe flat out Larceny. I wouldn't be surprised if he's the third receiver taken....forget the height stuff....this kid is the real deal.

I chose Caddy but I think Benson will slid to #7 so I would say if they are both available we take Benson, if he's gone take Caddy.

Forget the part IF we trade down....and watch to see whom we trade down with....because the writing is on the wall;

Saban has been shopping his first-round choice for a package of lower selections.

"We have quite a few needs," he said. "To have the second pick in the draft and then not a pick until the third round doesn't give us the opportunity that I would like to have to solve several problems in the draft."

I do hope whoever we draft is a younger player. It would be nice for example to spend our time developing a QB that's 22 or younger rather than developing a 27 year old.

I agree Fins2. M. Williams is the surest thing in the draft. If he had played last year, we would be talking about him going #1.
I agree with that statement, though we'll soon see as M.Williams will certainly be starting somewhere in the NFL this season.

I think this is a big possibility with the Eagles, they have a lot of picks in the draft. I would love to get their 31st and our 2nd back. With TO being TO, and the lack of production from anyone else at WR they need help there! Trade Surtain for a 2nd and we are in buisness! Three trades and we have 5 first day picks. I also wouldnt mind getting Phillys 2nd and some later picks.

Assuming we trade down to #7, and Smith, Rodgers, Brown, Benson and Edwards are gone for sure. Who doe we select at #7?
The best Wr in the draft: Troy Williamson :cooldude:
