If we can't draft, we can't win....

Attempted to trade for Kyle Orton and pay him more then what he offered Matt Flynn, kept Chad Henne, overdrafted a center and backup running back, traded away our arguably best offensive player for next to nothing, signed Marc Colombo, alienated Jeff Fisher into not signing with us(which was fine with me, didnt want him but others did), and caused our franchise quarterback to holdout despite having an idiot proof draft salary system. Then of course there was the Peyton Manning and Jim Harbaugh debacles. Im probably missing some more events. Didnt he resign Dan Carpenter recently?

On the plus side he traded for Reggie Bush and signed Kevin Burnett.

Hardly what i call breaking even.
attempted trade... is that like almost preggers? kept chad henne... um I didn't see a lot of solutions last offseason. Overdrafted a center? Ok, I guess we overdrafted tannehill, but both of those guys look to be starters on this team sooner rather than later. traded our best offensive player for next to nothing ok, well he's proven he can survive a stabbing, hurting his fist on womens faces.. oh god you know what I'm not even going to bother. the dudes rap sheet alone is longer than you can post inside this text box. good riddance. let him go drop balls in chicago this season. I don't give a **** about fisher. you're more than welcome to cry about him tho. I fully expect you to cry about sparano if you do. He signed columbo, it was tony who kept starting him, I guess you want to pile it on jeff that you aren't even going to honestly figure out the difference between the job of the GM and the job of the head coach. Jim harbaugh? you wanna blame that on jeff? seemed like ross's idea to me but go ahead you've already proven you want to blame jeff. Peyton manning um... I guess at least 10 other teams wanted him, sucks to strike out and lose but at least he gave us an interview, but to be honest if the rumors about peytons lack of arm strength are true, we might be thankful we didn't land him and instead got Tannehill. Oh speaking of... I guess tannehill's two day hold out and subsequent signing with the offset language in the contract really... really really... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... really Held him back last night.

What? Why state that you know what a "meathead" is, then immediately ask what is a "meathead"?

And had Ireland not taken half a decade to draft a potential franchise quarterback then i would be more impressed with him. True to form, it took him 3-4 years longer than other regimes to figure out that not having a quarterback is a problem. Or perhaps he just thought Chad Henne and/or Pat White had the potential to be franchise quarterbacks. In which point, someone needs to stage an intervention and take away his LSD.
Lol. Ok show me this fictional contract that everyone says florio read that had jeff as having more power over personel than parcels. gee I guess it took jeff 2 full years to draft a QB in the first round once he had control. Of course I guess he gets no kudos at all for being the first gm in 29 years to do so.

Lol at disregarding everything Ireland has done and only count the last 2 years. The ****ing logic of that smh.

You buy too much into the "on paper" theory. You have no idea that the 2-3rd rounders we got for Marshall dont end up making us better in the long haul. How many times does it need to be said that Philbin doesnt need a Marshall?

We need 6-7 guys who are ready to run in the "count to four" offense and play their role and get open and catch the ball based on what the defense is giving you. Marshall is too lazy and a headcase to understand that concept. He is not a team player. He throws a tantrum even when he gets the ball thrown his way and catches it. He has mental issues. Not needed on this team. Which is why Ocho is getting his Philbin training right now. Ocho not passing test. Too worried about his media mode mentality while at the same time saying he is not talking to media. what a joke. Thats not going to cut it with this offense.

Whats "on paper" about losing a pro-bowl wideout? Every single team in the league needs playmakers of Brandon Marshall's level. We spent 2 second rounds picks for a two year rental and only got 2 third round picks in return. On paper, thats horrific. On the field, its even worse. Its common sense that having multiple second round picks is better for the team in the long haul than having multiple third round picks. As well, we have already spent one of those third round picks. Guess what it wasnt spent on? Wideout.

This absurd "SOVIET MIAMI NEEDS ON SCHEME" argument is beyond baffling. I have no idea where it came from but its categorically wrong. People can repeat wrong statements all they like, it doesnt suddenly make them right after a certain number. Know whats better then 6-7 guys that can run the "count to four" offense? 6-7 talented guys. The most famous west coast offense in the history of the league needed talent, sometimes in the form of a little known guy named Jerry Rice. All of this is beside the fact that Marshall ran a version of the West Coast offense in Denver under Mike Shannahan. Nothing could have prevented him from learning another version of that offense.
And lets not act like Marshall's head problems were a complete mystery. Ireland knew about them. The entire league knew about them. Im not sure how him having head problems in 2010 is perfectly fine so lets burn multiple draft picks on him, but him having head problems in 2012 is suddenly earth shattering and we gotta get rid of him. If it was such a risk, we shouldnt have traded for him. No matter how much people want to spin it, that trade was a disaster. Period.
And i do find it hilarious that you only defend the Marshall trade for Ireland. Best case scenario, you spin it enough to make it sound like a good thing(impossible). And even then youd still ignore what...9 other blunders of Irelands in the past 2 years? Still waiting for someone to try and defend the Marc Colombo signing, but no one has risen up to that admittedly suicidal challenge.

I vote we hire a general manager who can draft players who arent limited to a single system. Only the Dolphins have to rip apart their entire team because we change coordinators.

lots of speculation about what jeff is and isn't responsible for. I guess I'll believe parcels was top dog until one of you ireland bashers shows me the actual contract proving he was parcels boss. Until you do, I think its just as reasonable to assume that ireland has only had full control of the personel since parcels left.

I haven't given up on Vontae and Sean Smith. They are both well placed for a good season even if you can't see it. This was just the first preseason game and both made errors in limited playing time. No need to get suicidal because they made errors. Compared to the other big draft picks from '09, (White and Turner), they are the good Parcells draft picks.

As in he wrote the trade, got Denver to agree to it, went through the entire process only to run it by our owner who correctly stated "AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU?" and refused to pay Orton money.....3 first round quarterbacks in the draft were available and thats not including Andy Dalton, but Ireland said "its Henne time! All he is missing is more meatheaded cornfed lineman to block for him and we'll be superbowl contenders!!!!!!1!!!"....Oh, i forgot, the draft is only about plugging in starters! Value doesnt matter! Why dont teams draft kickers in the first round? Seems like such a good policy because you can be sure they will start. I mean, Oakland did it, and everyone knows to follow their example....And Marshall was really great at getting stabbed and punching women. You know where he was great at that stuff? Denver. Thank god we rewarded them with multiple draft picks for the privelege of adding to Marshalls rap sheet. Now thats just darn good team building!.....And the purpose of our owner bringing in Fisher was to not sign him. Whew! Im sure our owner was thankful for that, all the while using Irelands sleeve to wipe away his tears at missing Sparano....And my bad! Its Sparanos fault for Colombo! Of course! Ireland brought him in and paid him 2 million dollars to do nothing but sit on the bench and look fantastic! Thats what good general managers do, pay players multiple millions of dollars with the intention of that player never touching the field. Sparano just ruined that flawless teambuilding plan by actually starting the player, damn him!.....And i believe Ireland, while flying around on their private plane, could have pointed out to Ross that the Miami Dolphins already had a head coach and it is usually considered a sound business policy in the national football league to fire your head coach before signing another one. But oh well, Ireland had nothing to do with that other then flying in the plane and actively working with Ross to replace Sparano, he wasnt involved in the least and can truthfully state that he wasnt there(at least mentally).....And Manning didnt give us an interview, at least not until Dan Marino assured him that the big bad Ireland wouldnt attempt to call his mom a prostitute. Even then Manning would only meet with Philbin. Dan Marino is still proving to be a useful Miami Dolphin then Ireland and he has been retired for over a decade........and how long does a holdout need to go on before its a "real" holdout? I must have missed the point that the holdout was really really... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... reallyreally... really meant to help Tannehill.

Agree with this, hard to critisize someone who is doing what their boss asks them to do.
Find it really interesting that the first draft without Parcells and Sparano is the first really good draft we have had in years. Really interested to understand just how much input a head coach has in who the GM drafts. Columbo and people like that are clearly on Sparano, Ireland probably knew they were useless but got the players his head coach demanded. This is what makes it such an exciting time for me, having Philbin on board makes Ireland look great and maybe just maybe Parcells and Sparano made Ireland look useless.

Ill be happy to provide the contract, the minute you provide the unpaid intern agreement that Ireland had his first 3 years with the team. You know, the one where Ireland didnt make a dime because he didnt have a job and was just hanging out until Parcells handed him the ropes, at which point he began being paid.

And kudos because other general managers failed? The thing that cracks me up about this "logic" is, it assumes the other general managers got rewarded for not drafting quarterbacks. They werent, they got fired. It took Ireland half a decade to finally pull the trigger. He finally did so because he wanted to avoid the same fate as our other general managers.

So when we end up with a losing season this year it wont be Irelands fault, it will be Ross's? Why did we even fire Tony Sparano then? I mean Ireland was his boss and Ross was Irelands boss. I think you made a mistake in the second part of your post. You indicate that Sparano made demands, yet he isnt Irelands boss. Now Ireland is only suppose to follow what his subordinates demand?

Just because you have a boss doesnt mean you have no responsibilities whatsoever. Do people actually know what general managers do? Or have we had Ireland so long that people have forgotten what the job actually is?

So you feel Ireland drafted Tannehill purely to extend his career, nothing to do with Sherman being his coach in college and rating him highly, nothing to do with him possibly being a franchise QB!

Lol did you really just ask why we fired sparano? I guess a head coach isn't responsible for his teams record? I guess we should never fire a head coach after a losing season, we should ONLY fire the gm after every losing season.

I'm not certain you actually know what the Gms job is at this point.

So what you're saying is, You choose to blame ireland because that's what you want to do, and that you don't need any other proof other than he's been with the team since 2008? That you indeed have no idea and no proof either absolving him of responsibility or proving he was indeed the man at the top of the totem pole? So you truely think Parcells was nothing more than a figurehead persona on a team, ignoring the fact that the only thing larger than Tuna's enormous ego is perhaps the size of the universe? You honestly expect us to believe Tuna would be second fiddle to ireland? Good one spesh!

I feel every general manager in the league drafts quarterbacks to extend their own career. If you dont have a quarterback your team is losing. If your team loses you are out of a job. So yeah, he purely drafted a quarterback to extend his career. That should really be a no brainer. Then again, with our team, we extend coaches who have multiple losing seasons and resign Gm's who cant hit on second round picks, so i can see where the confusion came from.

I'm not certain you actually know what the Gms job is at this point.

Whoa whoa whoa, a head coach is responsible for the team record? He should actually be accountable?

And here i thought we should only blame the bosses like Parcells. Mind blowing that people should be responsible when they fail to do their job. What a concept.
