So true. I mean ya if you bringing up we should have taken Gore over Brown then that's some scenario based in fairy dust but nothing wrong with reflecting what other options were. It just matters how silly the options you mention like why didn't we take Tom Brady in the first round.

At the time I wanted to trade back in the first and pick up another few picks. I wanted Efiert or Cordarel Patterson, in the first and Terron Armstead, and Gio Bernard in the 2nd. I was on record wanting Travis Kelce in the 3rd if we didn't get Effert but he wouldn't have made it that far. He went with the first pick in the 3rd rd. Looking back Effeirt would not have been that great but Patterson would have. Armstead would have us set at LT for quite a while rather than getting a few years out of Albert. I also didn't think that much of Lacy but I would love to have him now.

The Raiders would have taken Hayden at three if they hadn't traded down. They came out after the draft and said so. That's why they were willing to accept so little compared to the chart.

Anyway, it doesn't take much to find a player who would have been a better pick at three than Jordan. At this point it looks like pretty anyone from at least the first two rounds will qualify.

The disturbing thing about the pick is that apparently the whole scouting department was on board. It wasn't just Ireland. He was the consensus pick of everyone, if you believe Ross. The guy they all wanted. Just goes to show how rotten things were in the state of Denmark. And a lot of those guys are still around, too.

You say that as if to suggest that the Dolphin organization was the only one who had a high grade on Jordan and that is simply not true. He was a top 5-10 pick on almost everbody's board. Every organization has their share of 1st rd busts and many were more highly regarded than Jordan.
He hasnt worked out to this point, and Ireland certainly deserves his share of criticism, but the Jordan pick wasnt some weird pick out of field.
There have been much worse 1st round busts.

I didn't suggest that. Normally I don't suggest things. I just say them.

As for the statement that he was a top 5-10 pick on almost everyone's board -- where is your proof? Do you actually have access to everyone's board, or do you have access to the media evaluation of the "consensus" -- which doesn't actually exist and even if it did exist, the media wouldn't have it.

In any case, "lots of other people were as dumb as we were" is not any kind of excuse. Mike Mayock raved about the Pat White and Daniel Thomas picks. That does make those picks justified.
