If we're really interested in McPherson....

I don't care what he can do in drills, what he can do on the field is all that matters to me.
and 10 passes in pre-season qualify for that ?

Have you not read that SABAN wanted to take him in the 5th ????? Im more inclined to the the SAINTS are stupid not Nick.

He's not on the team and wasn't taken. McPherson like I stated in another thread, Clarett accomplished twice as much as McPherson, and his character issues weren't half as bad, where's the sign Clarett bandwagon if he is cut? We're talking about a guy who can't beat out Kliff Kingsbury, not some decent QB,do you believe Kingsbury is a better player than Sage/Brock, i'm guessing nobody could answer that because they probably have not watched him play, besides at Texas Tech. Now if a guy who i'm guessing nobody wants in Kingsbury is a better player than McPherson, why would the team think McPherson is worth anything? Kliff Kingsbury is a better player than him, not some decent guy, not somebody who is thought of as an up and coming prospect, but Kliff Kingsbury. Here's another great idea, how about the team goes through the waiver wire, because all these other QB's who aren't good enough to make football teams, must be better players than the guys on the roster right now.

I think we need to look at it as the Saints want to put McPherson on the Pratice Squad just like so many want to do with Brock, but to do that you need to have him clear waivers. Now he has more potential then Sage, we've had Sage for 4 years, he is on a one year contract and cost more. Why wouldn't we get rid of a non-productive player and replace him with a younger, cheaper, and arguably better player. Too me this is a smart move, we save on cap money and get a young talented prospect. I think the reason he isn't beating Klinsbury is because he hasn't played structured ball like Kliff and the Siants at this time would rather keep him on the team and place Adrian on the Practice Squad but again he must clear waivers. This comes down to something like placing Manny Wright on the practice squad. We would take the chance of another team picking him up. They are in the same position, they want to keep him but no one else can't want him.

Id still take a look. but im an optimist.

Did anyone hear what Steve DeBerg said about this guy. He said McPherson is a complete stud. Feeley's Grandma and Grandpa don't even say that about him.

Well Kliff Kingsbury must have more talent in his pinkie finger, than McPherson has in his whole body, if he does in fact beat him out for the 3rd string QB.

And you obviously still don't get it. Kingsbury had a full 4 year college career, and has a year of NFL experience under his belt. Kingsbury was also considered to be a decent prospect himself when he came out. The fact that he is outplaying McPherson right now doesn't say much, other than how raw McPherson is, which we all already know. McPherson is by far more talented than Kingsbury. Does that mean he will be a better pro? No, hardly. On the other side of the coin, don't think in such black and white terms. McPherson may turn out to be good, or he may be garbage, but you want to basically close the book based on 3 weeks of his first training camp. Nothing like a good snap judgement.

If Kingsbury were the one to be cut, I would probably be cool with Miami taking a look at him too. The key thing here is trying to find someone to possibly develop for the future, not for today. Miami hasn't had a true developmental QB on their roster that actually stuck for a while since Scott Mitchell, I believe. I don't know if I really want to count Cade McNown or Druckenmiller, but I suppose you could.

Either way, we know what we have with Sage. There is no point keeping him languishing in no man's land when you have a chance to put someone in the same spot who may actually turn into something at some point. It is clear as day, and I don't get how a lot of you just aren't grasping that fact. It would cost the Dolphins absolutely nothing to find out if this kid has anything. The 3rd QB spot is an albatross to begin with. May as well use it on someone who has a chance of doing something one day.

I completely agree with you. But 4 QBs is a lot to carry on the roster, especially if we keep so many running backs. Seeing as how Saban has been taking a look at Couch lately, it indicates that he is not really content with any any of our QBs so far. Sage is in his last year, Feeley's cap hit with be enormous next season and is a likely cut unless he gets it together, and Frerotte is only slightly better than Fieldler was.
I say we keep Berlin on the Practice Squad this year, and take a very serious look at the young guys going out on waivers. A guy like McPherson would be an obvious pick-up because he's fast and has a strong arm. We have nothing to lose by cutting Sage and signing a developmental QB.

Yeah, it's tough to say...I mean 4 QB's on the roster??? Berlin has been doing his part and so has Rosenfels.... I definetly do not see us cutting Ferotte or Feeley....So it could be just for the practice squad....but the media makes it sound like Saban is high on him...

It could also be that Saban thinks he's fit good in Linehan's offensive system....ala Culpepper (scrambling QB)

Exactly ..at least Mcpherson can run away from the defenders and with this oline we are gonna need a scrambler back there.

does that mean we cut Rosenfels or keep 4 QB's? I couldn't imagine either option so that leads me to believe that if Saban is interested in McPherson, it's to put him on the PS and nothing else.

Well, we haven't heard it from Saban's mouth...I don't know what sources they have this info from, but I thought that McPh was the 4th best QB in the draft...at least as far as potential goes...of course that and $2.25 will get you a gatorade after practice...

Do you think you guys are gonna go for a QB in the 1st round next year, or OL help?
