Remember this for future reference in case he turns out to be good. If Spielman doesn't trade a 2nd round pick for Feeley; still looking for a young Qb to take over for Fiedler? If no team behind Miami trades up in front of Miami to take J.P. Losman, J.p. would have been available for Miami to take him.

Well there is alot I would have changed. Fletcher, Avery and Kumerow were the biggest ones I can remember. Switch Brees for Fletcher, I was shocked we passed on Brees, (By the way, he would have a great back in Ricky Williams, that draft was before he "retired", who knows if Brees was here maybe he wouldnt have walked) Anyone for Avery, and I would have taken Chris Spielman instead of Kumerow.

Believe it or not, I would redo the top of the drafts during the glory years of the early to mid-'70s. That was true glory era Dolphins and sustainable for many more years if the top picks hadn't been so pathetic for several years, '71 to '75 if I remember correctly. You stick a few blue chippers on that roster instead of mush like Donald Reese and Darryl Carlton and Mike Kadish and the '70s Steelers might have been nothing more than 4-time AFC runnersup.
This will not be popular and no one will agree, but I really don't think it mattered who we drafted in the Marino era. The philosophy was flawed and we were too soft and pass oriented. The NFC was ganging up on monsters and using them correctly while the AFC structured weak sister offensive-minded teams. Unless we were in the NFC and had to figure out how to confront the Giants, Skins, 49ers and Bears on a weekly basis, I doubt the prevailing team mindset would ever have allowed us to attain championship level.

Excellent! This was my pick too. Great post. Biggest draft problem in 80's was this year. Other years had bad picks, but it is harder to 2nd guess. For example, 84 w/ Shipp and Brophy #1, #2 - bad, but check the draft, not much else panned out.
Only real change would be Michael Dean Perry on #2.

well i would have drafted dt kevin williams who went to the vikings 3 yrs ago. i would have drafted drew brees or anquan boldin . this last year i would have drafted jason campbell ,braylon edwards, vernand morency, billy bajema and cornerback darrant williams who will slobberknoxk our wr s in the denver game in acouple of weeks.

Would've been a pro-bowl player opposite JT. He has been solid, even with the Chicago Bears! Even though he's from UF, I was rooting for him to be picked here because I remember how good he was at UF.
4th round (#114) - Randy McMichael (same)
5th round (#161) - T Justin Hartwig - Kansas
He is now the starting center I believe for the Titans...
7th round (#241) - Leonard Henry (same)
2003
2nd round (#49) - G Vince Manuwai - Hawaii
I believe he is starting for the Jags now... I was rooting for either him or tackle Wayne Hunter, also from Hawaii... maybe also WR Anquan Bolden.

Not much to choose from here, but Pile has played the most out of anyone left in the draft after the Dolphins picked here.

Its hard to go against Carey after hearing about his training camp, but it was still a reach. Wilfork wouldve helped our DT situation immensely.

5th round (#160) - T Kelly Butler - Purdue
Wouldve been the steal of the draft. He was supposed to go around the 2nd round, but fell to the 6th. He will be good.
6th round (#174) - C/G Rex Hadnot (same)
7th round (#221) - WR Derek Abney - Kentucky
Wouldve been a great KR/PR for us
7th round (#222) - LB Derrick Pope (same)
