If you could REDO a past Dolphin draft

What would you do different, heres my versions plus an overview of the WS (Wanny Speilman) Picks, tell me what you think.

2004

Speilman and Wanny picks (NOPE) This was all Spielman

1 #18) Vernon Carey - Last year I would have said a dumb pick. This year he is seemingly dominating JT and anyone else he faces for that matter. Never thought I would hear myself sayin this but.......Great Pick.

4 #102) Will Poole - Wow, steal of the draft, no doubt. I have absolutley no idea how this kid lasted this long. He got hurt and is out for the season, but look out next year.

5 #160) Tony Bua - Overrated IMO. I think that he is going to be cut, dont get me wrong, I dont dislike him, but he isint doing anything in the NFL.

6 #174) Rex Hadnot - Looks like hes going to be a pretty good steal.

7 #221) Tony Pape - Looked like a very good pick at the time. He could have gone as early as the 3rd round, but he retired.

7 #222) Derrick Pope - A steal, I didnt think he was going to be anything special, but he turned out to be pretty good.

My Picks

1 #18) Same

4 #102) Same

5 #160) Same

6 #174) Same

2 7's) Same

I cant think of anyone whom I would change.

Not going to do my version of the 05 draft till the ned of the year. So, do you agree with my changes, or do you have better versions? Either way, tell me what you think.

The one draft you wouldn't change is the ALL Spielman draft..Hmmm, that should say something about Speilman's ability to recognize talent. The only reason some of his players won't hang on now is because of size, when he drafted Bua and company, he was drafting for the way Wanny likes his LB's. Saban's D seem to require some bigger guys at the position. But when you look at that draft, you've gotta say that was a solid draft...so for those who say this year's draft was the first good one, I disagree, Last year was the first I'd seen in quite awhile. This year's draft is adding imo.

Fun post. Yes, I would take Brees over Fletcher. I was so happy at the time because I felt Brees dropped right into Miami's hands and then they passed on him. How about Brian Griese over Shannon (I believe) who was a wide receiver or Chris Simms over Taylor Whitney. Miami has had some chances at pretty good quarterbacks.

Although Carey appears to be coming on, I'd take Wilfork. There's another example of someone who fell right into the Dolphins hands, a stud DT, which is exactly what the team is now looking for. I think Carey will turn out to be pretty good, but I also think he'll end up at guard eventually.

1995 Draft:

1 Billy Milner T Houston Derrick Brooks OLB Florida State
2 Andrew Greene G Indiana Curtis Martin RB Pittsburgh
4 Pete Mitchell TE Boston College Ritchie Owens DE Lehigh
5 Norman Hand DT Mississippi Same, just don't cut him.
6 Jeff Kopp LB Southern California Terrell Davis RB Georgia
7 Corey Swinson DT Hampton Chad Eaton DT Washington State
7 Shannon Myers WR Lenoir-Rhyne

Curtis Martin & Terrell Davis running trough the middle 25 times each like JJ and Wanny loved.

well i would have drafted dt kevin williams who went to the vikings 3 yrs ago. i would have drafted drew brees or anquan boldin . this last year i would have drafted jason campbell ,braylon edwards, vernand morency, billy bajema and cornerback darrant williams who will slobberknoxk our wr s in the denver game in acouple of weeks.

How could have you picked Kevein WIlliams when Miami didn't have a 1st round pick in 2003 and he was a top ten pick? In 2005 assuming you had taken Braylon Edwards with the 2nd pick , how could you draft jason Campbell with your next pick when he was taken in the 1st by Washington?

This is not true. Here is a portion of the pre-draft ranking from CBS sportsline:

60 Eddie Moore Tennessee OLB 6-0 3/8 237 16 4.65
61 Terry Pierce Kansas St. ILB 6-1 3/8 251 27 4.70
62 Willis McGahee Miami RB 6-0 3/8 223 12 4.30
63 Artose Pinner Kentucky RB 5-9 3/4 229 14 4.68
64 Teyo Johnson Stanford WR 6-5 3/8 247 24 4.61
65 Jon Stinchcomb Georgia T 6-5 302 37 5.06
66 Cecil Sapp Colorado St. RB 5-11 229 17 4.55
67 Anquan Boldin Florida St. WR 6-0 5/8 216 31 4.71

This ranking has Moore just 11 spots away from where he was selected. Hardly the reach that some like to claim. I had not seen any publications that indicated he might not get drafted.

Please notice who is ranked at 67, behind Moore.

Holy crap, McGahee ran a 4.3?
