If you think Philbin will be coaching this team in 2014...

If they make the playoffs he survives, other than that I think we have a clean house situation.

If the Dolphins make the playoffs without Richie and Martin, no one will ever talk about this fiasco again, lol

I think the only way Joe Philbin survives here is a playoff victory.

So... I'm not taking that bet.

i think philbin will return personally...and i'm ok with it for what i have seen to date

Philbin has a chance of saving his job. We lose tonight those chances go down. But he seems liked enough by his players and management that he has a chance.

Jeff Ireland? Well, let's just say if half of what I hear is true people will say this got him fired but it actually has nothing to do with BullyGate

I don't know what you've heard, but I've heard from second and third hand sources that Joe Philbin and Jeff Ireland did not see eye to eye on the OL -- specifically that Joe wanted McKinnie in free agency -- and that's why there's been a rift and he's been closer to Dawn Aponte recently.

Don't know how true that is. Could just be more folks attempting to stick a fork in el Jefflon.

Yeah. I think if Ireland goes, it's warrented, but has nothing to do with bullygate.

If Miami does well tonight, and further in the season, and very little if anything is found in the investigation that Philbin is responsible (Both of which I believe will happen), Philbin is going nowhere.

Bovada puts up that type of prop all the time. Their limits are very low. It's more to generate publicity than to inspire bets. And if you win on the props consistently, they'll cut your limit below the stated site limit. That happened to my friend years ago. We were using his account. When still known as Bodog, they made very poor homemade numbers on political races, specifically the Lieberman/Lamont general election in Connecticut senate 2006. It was -165 on Lieberman when it should have been closer to -4000. This was before Nate Silver got into the picture so the conventional wisdom on political betting was ridiculously out of whack. For example, if a candidate had a polling average of 2.5 points in a political race, the knucklehead consensus was that the odds should look like a sports money line, where a 2.5 point favorite is -145. As Silver has demonstrated, it's exponentially higher than that. I respect Silver immensely but I really wish he had never surfaced. My numbers were never as good as his but beginning in 1992 I realized that political betting odds were horrendous, and took advantage for more than a decade. In that Connecticut race, Lamont won the primary but figured to lose the general election rematch by roughly 10 points, given the ideological breakdown of the electorate. Somehow Bodog thought the line should be -165. We pounded it then got cut off after collecting.

In this case I would definitely take the +300 on Philbin surviving to 2014. But the -500 +300 split is a joke. It should be a one dollar cut in that range (-450, +350), or no more than 125 or 150 on the outside. To make it two full bucks is an insult, and it's partially the reason Bovada is not respected in betting circles.

BTW, a number like that can move quickly. Let's say the Dolphins win tonight. It can change in a hurry. I'm not sure they will leave it up during the game. That's the type of thing to be aware of. In Las Vegas for years I would hang near the counter at Harrah's when an important game toward home field advantage was ending, because that sportsbook was notorious for not paying attention and being slow to adjust. You could get the "old" number even after a vital game had finished, a result that dramatically shifted the odds.

Bovada lists 10 or 15 NFL coaches, and whether they'll be the head coach opening next season. I was surprised to see Mike Tomlin among the list. Hard to see a young impressive guy like that in any jeopardy at all. The Steelers are known to keep coaches for a long time. If Tomlin leaves, seemingly it would have to be all his doing.

Belichick is still there after both spygate and hernandez, Tomlin stayed after Ben got rapey, Garrett is still in Dallas after one of his players killed another in a drunk driving accident. Two players saying mean words to eachother is much less severe.

Point is - coaches will stay on the sideline 95% of the time as long as they are winning. Joe wins 9 or 10 this year, he is back. Its that simple. 8 and Id still put it at 75%, 7 and Id put it at 50%.

One rumor I've heard is the Aponte rumor yes. She was reportedly one of his bigger supporters. Another rumor I've heard is that the loss of Mike Dee really hurts Ireland. Dee was one of his biggest supporters and he is no longer with the team. Supposedly the new guy hasn't been impressed with Ireland.

Also you have former players here (admittedly not great players or even good) come out and vent that Ireland is an ass and the players don't like him and reportedly "several" administration members that are more than ready to voice their displeasure with working with Ireland.

I've also heard that Ross was ready to sever ties with him after last year but Carl Peterson, Mike Dee, and Dawn Aponte talked Ross out of it. Well one of those is no longer with the organization, and another had a falling out with Ireland.

+300 ? Id take that bet all day that Philbin comes back. I still dont get what the hell he has done so wrong. This is a personal beef between two adults, if philbin gets blamed for this, its the media that caused him to get fired, which is total bull**** and our owner SUCKS...

This of course is pending that our team performs. If they dont perform, philbins in trouble. Id say as far as getting fired. just because of Martn and Richie, No he better not
