Igbinoghene is a stud....

I think he will be ok but it will take 3 years. He won't blow it up this year

He made two pro bowls.
For the Colts. My post specifically said "here". At the time he was traded he was viewed by the organization as not having developed consistency or maturity, the same organization that loved how consistently Sean Smith practiced well and was also close to the football he could never actually located when it was in the air.

Vontae Davis didn't really "get it" his entire time here...that was why we negotiated a trade with his grandma.

I mean, while Sean Smith came out of the gates hot with more INT's his rookie preseason than he'd have his entire Dolphin career (I'm not sure if that's exaggeration or not), Vontae had some flashes. But either way it would be wrong to say he ever put it together when he was traded, on a TV show no less, specifically because he never put it together.
Vontae had 2, 4 INT seasons and was pretty darn good. I remember him sealing an upset over NE w an endzone pick where he ripped the ball away from Moss. He had game and was an ascending player - making the pro bowl w the Colts. Smith was bad. He had some picks in preseason but he dropped them all in the regular one. I don’t think he ever had more than 2 in year for us.

This is true - Principal Philbin thought he was immature and didn’t want to deal w him.

He's a first round pick last year and he's 4th on the depth chart. Miami knew he was raw but he's even more "not ready" than they had hoped for at this point. He is still not ready to really make any contributions this year. Needham looks a million times better in coverage.
Needham can play. He was one of the surprises in year 1 of the rebuild.

Vontae had his moments. The elite physical talent was there. I just don't think the organization ever felt he was consistent enough even though he had the interceptions.

But it's very worth noting that organization had a pretty stagnant defense for years under multiple staffs because it fixated on guys like Sean Smith, Chris Clemons, and Jimmy Wilson who couldn't get a turnover even if Mark Sanchez was delivering door to door. It had to sign Michael Thomas from another team's practice squad to get a pick to seal a comeback versus Brady, and then they taught him how to not ever get picks again too. When they drafted Will Davis and Jamar Taylor, and Davis came to camp a ballhawk and Taylor came to camp bad, they made Davis not a ballhawk and taught both of them were bad. Guys who made big plays on occasion but blew a coverage or two always got shunned for guys who were more consistently but needed virtual gifts to get a turnover and were thus as a unit entirely unable to generate turnovers.

Things seem to have changed under Flores, but there are still guys like Byron Jones who get signed to market-setting contracts despite not having a turnover in two seasons. Coaches can't help but love them some predictability.

He's way down my list of concerns, lol.
Mine too, because they have plenty of defensive backs much better than him. So even if he doesn’t play a single down in the regular season, he won’t be missed.
I am a lot more worried about the OL than I am a CB who will likely only make the team because of where he was selected in the draft and not because
he has shown he can play at the NFL level yet.

I'll go with Flores faith.
Belichick has made many mistakes with high round draft picks, including first round draft picks. So if Belichick can make mistakes with high draft picks, I tend to think Flores can make similar mistakes judging the talent of high draft picks too.

Did he come back in game after he got hurt?

Then YOU have to consider why the hell did Miami's from office draft him if you choose to go with that logic. If their plan was to pay top dollar to 2 corners, who are going to start, then they spent a 1st round pick to groom a nickel corner. Makes you think
You start three corners and people get injured in the NFL.

Limp Dick.

So you invest a 1st rd pick in the strongest position on your team? On a player that doesn't look the part at that. I guess Miami should draft a qb in the 1st round next year, you know because people get injured

He's playing against 2nd and 3rd stringers, and he got smoked on that one play...

Many forget that X missed half the year with a knee and had a domestic situation in the off-season that made many on this forum nervous. Who knew at the time that X would rub BJ’s contract in our faces with a pro bowl year. Igbo was seen as a CYA pick as insurance against an X implosion occurred.
