maybe its just a coincidence but did you all notice that these guys are all from teams we will play this year .. two of them are teams w e will play early in the season... maybe a little scouting the opposition?
Rich22 said:Look - Saban said what separates the good teams from the great teams are the bottom half of the roster not the top half. You need depth that you can develop and build into starters that can come in and replace an injured guy and you don't miss a beat. Obviously the guys we had were not that good. We were all blinded by optimism because they wore the Aqua and Orange BUT if these guys were so good they would be starting and we would be rolling over teams. Let's give Saban and Mueller the time they need to retool this roster. I can see 75% of this roster new this time next year from when he took it over. We sucked last year - we won 4 games and everybody is crying because we are shaking up the roster - Sorry folks but we need it! We need to clean house and bring in some young hungry talent. Big deal we are short at DB - we cut Mario Edwards for god sakes - he sucks!! I'd rather have a young guy with potential that may have some growing pains then a guy who will get beat because he sucks and there is no growing to look forward to.
I like the way you think.pwn3dyo said:Call me crazy, but the players that are signed are from the Panthers/Bucs/Jets/Pats. As everyone knows, we play the NFC south this year. Could it be more than a coinscidence that he signed players from teams that we will play this season.

If you looked closer at the guys you listed you would have realized 1 thing. Those guys are all vets who started playoff games (yes even Gus). A few of them even have Sb appearances. They were brought in for leadership cause they all have reps (except maybe Gus) as leaders.adamprez2003 said:Granted, this is what I was hoping for before any moves were made. But then he brought in players like Kevin Carter, Keith Traylor Vonnie Holliday, Gus Frerotte, Lance Shulters and I thought he was looking to do something this year. But looking at our roster one week before our first game, it's going to be a very long year and that would be fine if we truly were going through a youth movement. I just dont see what Saban's game plan is. I think a big part of that is due to our salary cap but I think if he doesnt clarify the direction this team is taking next year this rebuilding process could be a lot longer than any of us are willing to give him
Do you really think youre going to find "top half of the roster guys" on the waiver wire right before the regular season? I get what youre saying but its just not realistic at this time.adamprez2003 said:True, but what seperates the great teams from the putrid is the top half of the roster

Look I dont profess to know much about the guys we brought in but I definitely think Nick has a scheme and a plan and he knows better then we do what fits it. Maybe he's seen something in these guys or maybe he just wants to give them a look. Who knows? he could have recruited them for all we know.
