I'm kind of left scratching my head a bit.

maybe its just a coincidence but did you all notice that these guys are all from teams we will play this year .. two of them are teams w e will play early in the season... maybe a little scouting the opposition?

Are these guys the best out there? A guy who had 17 tackles and 1 sack in NFLE? I don't care if he was ALL-NFLE. The only reason the guy made it to final cuts is because of the NFLE exemptions. He's still not much IMO. I would have rather the team kept Romero who is young and has played ok when given the opportunity. I"m all for youth movement but these guys seem to be more like PS material than 53 man roster material. Also, I wouldn't consider guys like Shaw and Richard old.

Kay-Jay is also 26. Eckel is a runningback in a fullback's body. He's bruising. That could be a good thing.

If you looked closer at the guys you listed you would have realized 1 thing. Those guys are all vets who started playoff games (yes even Gus). A few of them even have Sb appearances. They were brought in for leadership cause they all have reps (except maybe Gus) as leaders.

Do you really think youre going to find "top half of the roster guys" on the waiver wire right before the regular season? I get what youre saying but its just not realistic at this time.

Look I dont profess to know much about the guys we brought in but I definitely think Nick has a scheme and a plan and he knows better then we do what fits it. Maybe he's seen something in these guys or maybe he just wants to give them a look. Who knows? he could have recruited them for all we know.
 
Are people really expecting to find studs and superstars on the waiver wire?

I'm not. But I do expect to find guys that can contribute and provide quality depth at uncertain positions.
 
Well here's why Heller was picked up. Its right in the Sentinel.

That statement had nothing to do with the waiver wire but rather his offseason moves both draft and free agency. Other than Crowder and R Brown I cant think of any top 25 players we brought in who have youth on their side. Granted maybe the vets were brought in for their experience and will be dumped right away next year but it seems that what Saban has done is bring in great bench players and over 30 yrs old veterans. Our bottom 25 is looking good, the problem in my estimation is he's done nothing to make the top 25 better in the long run unless you consider bringing Ricky williams in a long term solution but then why draft ronnie brown?
 
i think poole's recovery must be coming along faster than expected and we need to just through the first 6-10 weeks injury free in the secondary.
