See this is part of the problem right here. There should be a period after "punctuation" and then a comma after "you" rather than an ellipsis, followed by a lower case "m" in "my". Like this:
All I ask is that you not be a person who lowers his expectations and gives his best effort every day. I'm sure your English teachers told you this all the time, but you were too busy skipping class and telling them you'd never come back. Which, of course, you did.
