nobody plays becuase they love the game. They all play for the money. What world do you live in???!
I guess you can't read, at least your comprehension level is low. Read my post a gain. it says the players played because the LOVED the game. Past-tense means in time past. Sheesh!

Thats fine. Football isn't the game it used to be. Remember YA Tittle and Jack Lambert. They played hurt. Now days if they break a nail and they're on the IR.

I remember games where guys played with broken bones, today its all about money. Sure, they might run to the CFL for a while, but when the players start playing because they love the game instead of the weekly paycheck, they'll be back
What are you talking about. This hold out stuff is normal. everything will work itself out. Relax. ;)
And if you think that players don't play hurt now in days than you are not watching the same game as me. Players play hurt all the time now. Now in days its the training staff that advise the player that they are too hurt to play. If they tell the coach you can't play and the coach agrees than it's not up to the player.:shakeno:

Sure it will, Browns agent and the dolphins are three mil apart and he's already missed some valuable time in camp

Nope, just this one thread! And on another board.

The NFL players would never agree to some ridiculous rookie scale where they get the league minimum or 1mill in guaranteed money. Thats totally absurd. The owners sign billion dollar TV deals sell 100's of millions of dollars worth of gear. The players deserve their cut of that cash. A guy like Vick comes into the league and instantly sells out his stadium, sells tons of season tickets, jerseys, etc and he's supposed to get the league minimum? Nuts. The owners in the NFL have never cried poor over these deals because they still make boatloads of cash. How many players wind up coming into the league only to get hurt right away or in the first year, they deserve money for that. Not the league minimum, thats just wrong. High draft picks are usually high profile players coming out of college and they earn the club a boat load of money, they deserve a cut of that. Its not greedy for players to want a fair cut of money that they help create.
I dont see people crying greedy when actors or musicians get megadeals or hold out for cash from a company. They are the stars and they are what people pay to see. Its the samething in the NFL. I dont pay to see any owner do anything, the players are the product and they deserve a lot of money considering they work for a billion dollar industry.
Now someone like TO that has signed a fair deal and is crying for more cash needs to shutup and play but a rookie that is picked high deserves a lot of cash period.

for where he was picked in the draft.............YES!!!!

Don't blame him for sucking. Blame Miami for picking a sucky player!

Imo rookies in general are overpaid, football players are not. With all the revenue the nfl generates, its only fair to give them a large sum of cash, even if that large sum is multi millions. Unproven rookies shouldnt be getting paid $25M in guarenteed money. That will be fixed after the 2006 draft. They haven't played a down in the NFL. I think the cap should be $15M for the #1 pick, and the #2 pick should get around $12M. Players still love to play the game i think, or some do. Money is important in todays society though. When you aren't getting your market value you should complain, and possibly in some situations hold out. Some players just love to play football and compete like Chad Johnson, or Jerry Rice. If they could get the same salary by stocking vending machines i think they would choose football. You can't blame Ronnie Borwn either for not accepting the $18M. His agent Todd France is very new to the business, and this contract is critical to whether or not he will get more clients. If ronnie brown didn't get his market value it would not look good on him.

Yes, exactly. He deserved the money for the slot he was picked in, its not his fault he was picked too high, its ours for poor scouting and decision making.

they wont be able to do anything about the holdout.
i say, if a player is holding out, screw them~!!! let them sit on the bench, the whole season......then when the season is up, they will either go back to their old contract, retire, or hold out again. and if they hold out again, let them sit on the bench again.....then when that years up, they will be 2 years without playing football, and they will suck ***, and they wont be holding out anymore.
