I hope we never have another season like last year...I think the Dolphins still have the best record in the NFL since the 1970 expansion?.....Yes it would be nice to get Leinart or Omar Jacobs but it would be even better if we had a great year...Ricky gets back to his old self, Ronnie Brown shows us he will be the team's future RB, and Gus/AJ make us proud of our QB's...I think there will be moments this upcoming year where we might look as bad as we did under Wanny, but at least Nick should open things up a little and we won't get the "run up the middle for no gain on 3rd and 6." :yell: :fire: No more Wanny ball...this is going to be a great 2005!!!!!:)

It is compete insanity to think that one person would create a dynasty for ANY nfl team. If this were the case then the Bengals and Tampa bay (or any number of teams that excuse a poor season with a high draft pick) would answer the question with a run of superbowl victories.

Manning is a great QB (Peyton of course), and many would trade 4 above average players for him. Well, Miami had one of the greatest QB's of all time and never won a superbowl, and was blown out in his only appearance. That is what happens when you let your fantasies overcome reality.

even if we did have the first pick next year i wouldn't want leinart. or the 10th pick...or the 32nd pick.......leinart's a bust. let's just play well and get one of the several quality tackles

I agree. If Miami has its choice of all players, I'd want them to take that monster tackle with the initials DF over ML the QB.

What if Carey turns out to be a pretty good LT?

Even if you have a passable LT, you don't pass on a franchise quality LT should he be available to you. That passable LT can go play RT.

leak is overrated too

I am anxious to see how Meyer is going to use him.He may transform him into a top QB ala Alex Smith but right now he has too slow of a release for the NFL.

Wanting your team to go 4-12 for an event that only has a finite probability of success is lunacy.

Never wish ill on your team, or you might end up with Ryan L at QB.

I would take a 0-16 season next year if it meant us picking up a star QB for years to come like we had in Dan. And I'd take another one if it meant us winning the superbowl in year after. You guys are becoming used to mediocrity at the QB position and don't even know what a good Miami QB is anymore. Now Matt may not be the answer but I wish we had a shot at a him none the less.

I don't think 5 losing seasons for the Bills in the 18 years I have been watching them qualifies as used to losing. But let's not the let the facts disturb our illusions.

Oh you want facts.

The Bills all-time record is 327-354-8 (Losing record)

In the 45 years they've been in existance they have been better than .500 21 times. Yes, that means that more often than not they fail to achieve a winning record. (Winning record only 46% of the time)

They have made the playoffs 17 times. Again more often than not they miss the playoffs. (playoffs only 38% of the time)

By decade:
they have a losing record since 2000;
winning record in the '90s;
losing record in the '80s;
losing record in the '70s;
losing record in the '60s.

Bills have zero championships and a losing record in the playoffs.

Compare this to Miami.

All-time record 373-254-4 (winning record)(best in the NFL)

In the 39 years they have been in existance they have been better than .500 26 times. (Winning record 66% of the time)

Miami has made the playoffs 21 times. (playoffs 53% of the time)

By decade:
they have a winning record since 2000;
winning record in the '90s;
winning record in the '80s;
winning record in the '70s;
losing record in the '60s.

They have 2 championships and a winning record in the playoffs.

Buffalo had a great run in the '90s, but other than that they have been a losing franchise both before and after that run. Those are facts.

I don't get the question...that is crazy...Lets win every game...then pick where we pick......dumb poll. What other possible result did you expect??

YES IGNORANT! What part of IGNORANT do you NOT understand?

I understand it just fine. For example, it's IGNORANT of you to try and condescend me in regards to the definition of the word when that's not even what we're arguing about.

I said the QUESTION was ignorant, I said nothing about the PERSON asking the question and I didn't attack anyone including yourself for their personal opinion on the issue, I simply stated that the QUESTION in and of ITSELF is ignorant.

Unfortunately, whether you meant to or not, in this case you can't have one without the other.

I asked the question. So how can you assert that I asked "the most ignorant question i've heard concerning our upcoming season" without calling ME ignorant on the matter??

That's why I replied the way I did. You can't label a hypothetical question ignorant if you don't know what motivated the person to ask it.

To imply that someone should accept failure regardless of the reason is ignorant.

Where did I ever imply that we should accept failure?? The only thing I implied was that Matt Leinert would likely be the #1 overall pick next year.

If that doesn't happen to be YOUR stance, fine....

It's not my stance. So we've pretty much gone in a circle on that one.

....I didn't comment on YOUR stance or opinion...

That's right, because you had no idea what either one was.

...I simply stated once again, the QUESTION, in and of itself is ignorant.

We can agree to disagree. As I alluded to in the first post, reading that NY Post bit in the other thread, they talked about this as if 4-12 had this great silver lining we should/could take comfort in. So I wanted to see if and how many of our fans actually felt that way.

It would have been ignorant of me to insult the person asking the question, which I did not. I have not directed an insult to a single person on this website since the day I joined and I do not intend to start now. In my opinion, we are all Dolphin fans with the same hopes and dreams in mind for OUR team. If you felt offended or as if I was directing my comment directly at YOU, then my friend, I apologize!

I'm not accusing you of attacking me, calling me stupid or ignorant overall (somebody else did that. lol). You weren't breaking TOS or anything. And I'm a big boy and can take criticism. So that aspect of this thing is A-OK. :)

I appreciate the apology. Don't even worry about it. After reading your post I understand that you didn't mean anything personal by it. :)

I agree with that.

It's going to be interesting to see what McDougle and Carey do this year.

1) This franchise will probably go 100 years or more before it has another Dan Marino. There hasn't been anything like him (Peyton Manning included) yet in the whole league.

2) Look at where Dan was drafted.

3) Look at the high pick bomb QBs there have been.

4) Look at the number of Super Bowls Dan won. I don't care about having a nice passing game. I care about a championship. If that means mediocrity at QB so the rest of the team can be outstanding, that is MORE than fine with me.

I'm almost certain he will turn Leak into a top college tight end. I mean the guys track record is amazing in his short tenure. He started with Josh Harris at BG and turned him into one of the most feared players in all of college football at the time, and tutored Mr. Jacobs. Then he turned the mediocre Smith into the 1st overall pick. The problem we face now is how are any of these guys going to turn out in the pros, the only one who has been in the leauge is Jacobs, and he is currently number 2 on the Browns depth chart.

I thought smith's release was kinda slow too, didn't really hurt his stock obviously. I think the main knock on leak should be his height, or lack of.
