even if we did have the first pick next year i wouldn't want leinart. or the 10th pick...or the 32nd pick.......leinart's a bust. let's just play well and get one of the several quality tackles

That NY Post article gave me the idea.

If going 4-12 meant securing the #1 pick and the right to take USC QB Matt Leinert, would you take it right now??

Leinert was unquestionably the #1 overall prospect this year. And barring major injury, he'll be the top guy again.

So would you cast the spell right here and now??

:yell:

No thanks. One 4-12 season is enough for me. I want to be able to attend meaningful games in October and November.

Thats a horrible idea, ok lets go tie for the worst record the dolphins have had in 40 years, humiliating saban, ronnie, mcmike, chambers and everyone else, so they could take a chance at the best LOOKING qb in next years draft. You can not stake he will be that good. Im thinkin a .500 season and probably another qb first round.

But HEY we are looking at the big picture

Another Dolphin cynic who truly has no idea what Saban is about! It does seem like this board is full of these kind. The fact remains that Wanny is dead and the dream is alive again, but many phin fans on this board simply do not understand this FACT!:shakeno:

I would take Leinart! We would be good for years to come with him at QB

You have absolutely no idea whether that is true or not.
He could be a bust just as easily as a franchise QB.

Every year that you backpeddle you get weaker at other positions as players age. Going 4-12 next year and securing a shot at Leinart isn't worth wasting what is left of the older vet core players we have like Thomas, Taylor, Madison, Chester, etc. There will be a lot more big holes to fill positionwise in the near future. If anyone wishes for a 4-12 season to get Leinart..... they are crazy.

Even if we go 4-14 again we have no guarantee that it will be the worst record or even have a chance at Leinert.

Even if we select Leinert there is no guarantee that he has the goods to play in the NFL.

IMO at no time should we wish for a bad record in order to move up a few spots in the draft to draft somebody. There are too many variables involved which could backfire.

exactly.....

I completely agree with you, where is that clip of Herman Edwards yelling "You play to WIN the game!!!" The only part I disagree with is that we will take a Qb in the first, with the number of franchise LT's in the draft I cant see us passing on one.

Rome wasn't built in a day brother. Gotta think big picture.

Yeah, that's what San Diego was thinking when they drafted Ryan Leaf. You don't put all your eggs in one basket and hope for a single savior.
Was Phill Simms or Bob Griese the caliber of Marino, Elway or even Jim Kelly? Absolutely not.
Elway was a much better QB when his Bronco teams were getting trounced by the Redskins, 49'ers and Giants than he was when he actually won his 2 SB's at the end of his career.
It is a team effort. You build a team (offense and defense). Just ask Manning. He's twice the QB of Tom Brady, but now Brady is being annointed the next Montana, because of a better TEAM.

The fact that this poll is (right now) 27-2 against throwing the season restores my faith.

What if Carey turns out to be a pretty good LT?

going 7-9 and getting Omar Jacobs > going 4-12 and getting leinart.

Going 8-8 and getting Omar would be my dream.
