Most here have been ripping Sherman. They have also been ripping the OL. How does one compare with the other?

Sherman has to call plays but, there has to be some blocking for them to work. Without any blocking, he is extremely limited in what he can call with expectations of success. What is he supposed to do?

He is stuck with the players, and their play, who were given to him, as he tries to sort out what may work. It ain't easy if the team cannot block. Think he may call some different plays with some blocking? I do.

Let's roll out. Let's run more. Let's move the pocket. Let's throw screens. Great ideas, until you realize that they all require blocking, which we do not have.

What is an OC to do?

all valid points but his play calling does not make sense a lot of times. I agree with where your coming from but there's plenty of times where his play calling leaves me baffled like Dan henning

I have been the biggest Mike Sherman backer here, but after last week I cannot defend him. He has had a lousy year.

There are some head scratchers for sure, as with fans and any OC in the NFL. I'm just seeing that where ever he would like to go, and where we believe he should go, are blocked by the lack of blocking.

If he keeps in a 2nd TE, it is a struggling Sims, an Egnew, along with Clay, a much better receiver than blocker, he takes out a Gibson who can make plays, and he is somewhat between a rock and a hard place.

Same is true with our RB's, who are as bad as it gets in pass protect but, maybe can make a play.

In spite of all of the above, Tannehill has improved across the board, and Sherman has had a lot to do with it.

I'm not for or against Sherman, just want to see what he can do, along with Philbin, with some blocking.

Why? Many say he sucks but, other than a few plays, no one says why. You are better when it comes to that, based on your analysis. Are you throwing him under a bus on one game, a few play calls?

I believe he should run more, but IMO, with Tannehill as our QB, Sherman is the best man to take us forward.

With the O'line we got we will do nothing this year. JI has to sort the O'line problems next year. If he does we are def onto something.

Sherman's resume is pretty darn good when he has the players to do the job. His Packers lead the league in offense for several seasons. I'm not convinced we have a complete enough offense to duplicate that yet. We either don't have all of the pieces to execute a dominant offensive game plan or they don't work together well enough yet to execute a dominant game plan. I'm hoping things will gel in time to at least let us sniff the playoffs this year. I still have a wait and see attitude towards the bunch of them. However, I'll be judging rather harshly this time next year, that's for sure.

I can't judge any of this offense until we get some average line play.

Agreed. Anyone have any idea how tuff it is to call plays when when your RT cannot block, your LT cannot block, your TE's cannot block, and your RB's cannot block?

It cuts your playbook by more than half.

IF this is the same next year, I'm chipping in for the FIRE Sherman plane but, not his year.

Run the ball. No balance. His passing the ball at the end of the game stopped a 4-2 record and now we have a three game losing streak. Where is he putting the young QB in comfortable spots? Maybe two TE sets are needed even though a good receiver leaves the field.

He and a supposed offensive mind in Joe Philbin have been bad this year.

I'm down, several suspect calls especially on 4th and a hair but RZ offense has been better. If not for drops, picks, and poor pass protection big plays were there on several occasions.

Roll outs, hurry up offense, screens, reverses, max protect, spread, flea flicker, run block for short passes, cadence, read option, designed QB runs, balanced running, chip with TEs/RBs, pitches to the backs and just general creativity are all things we should be doing to help the o-line, especially if you know they need help. I have seen very little of any of it. On top of that this idea that we will not run into 8 man fronts plays right into the hands of the defense, they want us to be one dimensional so if it helps them then it must hurt us.

New Englands game-plan against us last year was to stop the run and everything short, we saw Hartline get wide open deep several times but we weren't able to connect on any of them, Belichick's gamble payed off. It'll be interesting to see if they change it up this year now that we have Wallace, I have a feeling they'll test Tannehill's deep ball accuracy again (assuming he has time to throw). For the strategists out there, if you can reasonably assume New England's game plan will be to leave the deep ball open and stop everything underneath, what would your game-plan be?

Did anyone see what we were facing on 4th and 1 in the middle of the line? We had no shot. Watch the plays.

Yeah, in Sherman's 40 years of coaching, he must have missed those options, and yet you and we come up with them. Philbin missed them as well.

Are we serious?
