In what world is Mallet a better backup than Moore?

If New England offered Mallet for Moore would you at least listen to the offer?

hell yeah i'd take it...at least there would be a chance for upside...that said mallet didn't really show much other than that arm in preseason week 1...garrapolo now that kids got a seriously quick release and throwing motion...

i'd trade matt moore for just about anything to get out of that crap cap # for a poor scheme fit qb...oh and bryan tyms has more potential still than any of the outside the top 5 wrs on this roster right now

I was not impressed with what I seen in last weeks work from Mallet. He has heavy feet....

Mallett is a backup? The way Florio blows the guy on PFT you would think he's a starter. Then again, credit Florio for trying to speculate and help his beloved patriots into trade raping some team for that scrub.

Can't wait till Tannehill screws up AGAIN...!!! I bet all u Tanny lovers also loved Henne and John Beck...!!!! hahaha

You mean kinda like Week 16 last year when Ryan got hurt & your boy Matt came right in and promptly threw a pick?

... Not that Tanny was having a good game at all, but your point lacks merit.

Merit..? The Dolphins missing the playoffs last year because Fannyhill threw 25 INT's in the last 2 games..!!! That's merit enough ...!!!!

Ryan Mallet was awful last week which, despite being preseason, was a huge game for his career and one he needed to play well in. He fell flat on his face, and everything I saw in the game makes me think that he may not even be the number 2 once the season starts.

Criticisms of Moore throwing two picks in that game are some of the worst I've ever seen on this board, considering he came into the game and doubled the amount of passing yards we had in over 20 pass attempts before that. Tannehill and the line were playing so badly that about the only thing Moore could do to try and save the game was sling the ball out quickly before he got killed himself.

Interesting fact: Ryan Tannehill had seven more pass plays after re-entering the game and did not complete a single one.

I also remember when Moore came in against the Jets in 2012 and provided very solid QB play in a pinch. I guess that would make him 1-1 in backup opportunities, which matches his record as a Dolphins starter of .500 (6-6). .500 is actually better than Tannehill's 15-17 career mark, and one of those wins is more attributable to Moore than Tannehill.

All perspective goes out the window when it comes to discussing Moore with most fans on here. I never quite understood it. You'd think he banged their mothers and beat Ryan Tannehill up or something.

I have no issue other than salary with Moore as backup. He had his chance to be Miami's starter and he did not impress the new staff who actually had David Garrard as starter at one early point of off season.
I don't buy that Miami decided to go with an inferior qb to Moore just because. there was no rush to put Tannehill out there

Don't even get me started on the sheer stupidity of bringing Garrard in to begin with.

It was done because the new regime knew Moore had the respect of that locker room. Look at all the other prior vocal leaders of the team, they were jettisoned. Accept you know what, Moore was a bigger team player than they expected and Garrard, well let's just say he showed what a waste of space he truly was. Some of the Garrard knob-shlobbing around here was embarrassing at the time.

If Moore had that locker room he definitely did not have a hold on the job. You cant judge Moore by his one good season and ignore he has been very inconsistent throughout his career. No team has been beating down his door for a reason. Now lets not take away that Moore has been a fine backup for us and been a good soldier.
Tannehill took his job and he is the one that chose to stay as a backup when he could have possibly had chances elsewhere. Im pretty sure his agent didn't see the landscape as that forthcoming for him to find a starter's job so he resigned. Up to this point no team has offered us anything for him.
