Incongnito's Suspension

I don't see the suspension being lifted until the investigation is over or he files a grievance with the league. The FO was put in a bad position and the suspension was damage control. With Incognitos golf shenanigans becoming public, I think he's done. Wouldn't be shocked to see him get released after the report is issued. Martin will be put on the NFI list and Ireland gets the axe. Not sure about Philbin, I think he may be gone too unless the report clears him...don't see that happening.

Hey, I never said joe didn't agree with the suspension. I haven't been too impressed with joe all year, coaching wise. He will be under the microscope for Monday's game. I am looking for him to rise this team up out of the dumps but if he doesn't, I won't be shocked.

Beating Browns -impressed
Beating Colts - impressed
Beating Falcons - impressed at the time...not as much anymore
Loss to Saints - meh, expected it. Could have done better
Loss to Ravens - unimpressed
Loss to Bills - unimpressed, ticked off
Loss to Pats - unimpressed, ticked off
Beating Bengals - very impressed. Team played really hard the whole game. Good rotation of players.

Joe looks like a bum now and it will be apparent with his players.

Looks like they did no intel on their part and went along with Martin's story and what the media was saying. Soft and weak is Joe. His team will not care what he says and play like it...yet you cannot win football games like that.
Then I'm a bum too. I'd have done exactly the same thing Joe did. His first job is to protect the team. It was necessary for Joe to distance the organization from such behavior. If he hadn't, and RI proved to be in the wrong alone, then that would mean the Dolphins endorsed RI's behavior. Joe has made it clear in the past that behavior detrimental to the team will not be tolerated.

I do believe he explained this to RI as he authored the suspension, and probably let him know he'd be back once the whole truth was known, and RI exonerated. However, Joe could not be certain of that outcome.

I would agree , i still thought he did a horrible job vs saints in countering in the 2nd half. I guess my expectations were set a little higher. Too often I see this team look flat with no passion and unprepared.

I have a good feeling Cog will be back for the Chargers. Philbin will sit him down, tell him that's what they had to do given the scrutiny, and I think Cog gets it. If Cog accepts it like an adult he gets a 1 year contract to stay next year signed in a few months after people start talking about something else.

The only thing missing from this story is a unicorn.

With the texts that state Martin was using just as much derogatory towards Richie as he was to Jonathan, Incognito's suspension must be lifted immediately and/or Martin must be suspended, with his last game check paid back along with whatever fines the team needs to assess due to his "leaving" the team.

He and Martin both shouldn't have left each other txt's like that. They both deserve to be suspended IMO.

I doubt we see either of them back in a Dolphins UNI.

However I most certainly would welcome Cog back as a Dolphins fan.

Why, what did Cog do wrong? Mean words back and forth with a friend on his team? Total support from his team mates? At this point there is nothing else stopping Cog from being brought back.

Fair enough, but I am tired that when a management decision is made (trading Brandon Marshall, trading Vonte Davis, (ironically) not addressing the LT position, play calling etc.) it is never about Joe.

At the end of the year we will add it up and see if Philbin deserves to stay for football reasons but the way they handled this organizationally is text book risky management.
Say nothing until all the facts are out there. Limit further risk by suspending the involved player.Do your own internal fact finding and it this case ask the NFL to do so as well.
Speak with one voice only (Joe).
I think they reacted as well as would be expected.

Joe works for Ireland and Ross but I'm sure he's involved in ALL player decisions.

We haven't heard Martin retract anything.

So while it helps, what the interview does mostly is just help muddy the waters.

Remember, some of those texts Incognito already showed us. That was when he contacted Martin and got the it's ok bro, it's just the locker room got to me, text. That was November 4th. After that, all the racially charged stuff came out. Then there's the issue of money. Then there's the issue of being physically assaulted.

So no, this doesn't go away. I'm curious why Incognito waited from November 4th to today, to release 1,000 texts. Was he trying to contact Martin during that time? What was he waiting for? And the next question is, what will Martin's camp release next, in response to what Incognito just did. Because they seem to release stuff after every time he tries to refute this.

I don't know what's going on, to be honest with you. But what does seem true are three things:

1. Martin is troubled
2. Incognito is off the reservation
3. Coaches effed up.

Beyond that, I couldn't tell you. I don't have a crystal ball.

Why, what did Cog do wrong? Mean words back and forth with a friend on his team? Total support from his team mates? At this point there is nothing else stopping Cog from being brought back.

First, we have no idea what's true and what isn't at this point. You and some others have taken the position that everything that props up Martin's side of the story has to be false while everything that props up Incognito's side must be true. We haven't heard the voicemails. We haven't seen the texts and the context surrounding them. We aren't privy to what players may say privately to the NFL investigators that they may not be willing to say publicly. We have no idea if the league is going to consider the things said simple locker room banter or if they're going to deem it unacceptable behavior.

The issue of the strip clubs still leaves questions unanswered. I have no issue with anyone going to a strip club, however, if those were actual meetings that were supposed to further some football related goal, that venue is a distraction and counterproductive to the task. If there were no football related goals to accomplish, then Incognito demanding payment for non-attendance amounts is extortion. Of further interest, if these were team sanctioned meetings, was all the money being collected in fines turned over to the team or was Incognito pocketing it?

Then there's the misconduct at the golf outing that was swept under the rug. I'm not sure if the league will make that part of their investigation or not, but it's certainly another reason to be leery of bringing this guy back on the team.

Finally, there's this fact all aglow in neon letters 10 miles high: Incognito is a bad risk. He was trouble in Nebraska; he was trouble in Oregon; he was trouble in St. Louis; he was trouble in Buffalo. He's been trouble everywhere he's been. And he's trouble that Ross can't afford. Ross is having enough trouble finding people to get behind his stadium proposal. It would be stupid of him to risk another Incognito story down the road, and there's no other player on the team more likely to get in trouble than him. If they bring Incognito back and he does something stupid yet again, Ross looks like a fool. People rarely bet their money on fools.

Anyway... since Incognito is the subject of this investigation, and since the Fins requested this investigation be conducted by the NFL, I don't see how they can bring him back before the league gives them the go ahead because if the report comes back and it buries Incognito, it's yet another piss-poor management decision on the part of the Dolphins organization. And that's probably the last thing Ross wants right now.

I'm watching Riley Cooper just being heartily congratulated by all his teammates after catching his 2nd TD today and 5th in 2 weeks. Seems like yesterday some of the same self righteous media buffoons and certain players with their panties in a bunch were proclaiming he'd be off the Eagles and have a hard time being accepted anywhere, doesn't it?

Are the cell phones the property of the organization? That's the only way anybody should be able to be suspended for text messages. The text messages of two grown men sent outside of work should not be under review of the employer. Martin caused this problem by being a bitch and screaming harassment.

Both should be cut. Richie has proven he can't be relied on to be an adult and is a part of dragging this team through the mud. Martin's a lying bitch and needs to work somewhere that has a PC work environment. He clearly can't handle a locker room.

I don't know if the Fins want to bring Incognito back, but if he turns these messages over to them, they may have to. They suspended him based on messages he left to Martin. Now that evidence is brought forward that Martin left the same type of messages to him, they either have to repeal their suspension or suspend Martin. Like it or not, they have to welcome both or suspend both.

Every NFL contract has language in it about conduct detrimental to the team and the league. Just about everything the players do can come under scrutiny.
