Most of the threads are about SFL or Gayder night so I thought something different would be refreshing.
Lots of members have meet with current or past Dolphin players . I know Nubs posted great pictures of a ceramony where he meet some old stars like Griese I believe.
I had an interest adventure many moon ago that you guys may find amusing.
To set the stage the company i worked for sponsered an Alzheimer awareness golf tournament.
Several former NFL players attended and former Fin's great Tony Nathan was in my foursome.
The other guys were all New Yorkers who barely know who Tony was so I got to share the golf cart with him the whole day.

I'm next to Tony in the middle with the stripped shirt.
The guy was great fun. He was coaching running backs for Tampa at the time. Dude was pumped up to maybe 250 and looked more like a linebacker than RB.
Tony hit the ball a ton but usually hooked it out of bounds or into the many lakes on the course.
I asked about the famous hook and lateral play vs San Diego and he said they just make that up in the huddle which I thought was very un Shula like. Had a blast but here's the kicker. I got there late and it was a scamble so I had no idea who else was attending from the NFL.
The group in front of us was slow so we gave them a hard time. At the turn we meet them and Tony started a conversation with one so I joined in. It was a former Buffalo Bill's RB by the name of O.J. Simpson. The guy looked really old to me with lots of grey hair but was very nice and all.
A few months latter he was driving away in the white bronco on national TV accused of murder and you guys know the rest.
Let's hear about your Dolphin encounters.

All mine have been with Cowboys. Most of them have been nice, though.

I got Drew Pearson, Hollywood Henderson, and Ed Jones to autograph a ball for
me at a Shoe Carnival opening in Killeen, TX which I gave to my father in law for
christmas that year.

When I got to Jones, he signed the ball and I shook his hand, looked him in the eye
and said; "Thank you sir. I appreciate the way you played the game."

He looks a little surprised, and then a little grateful, and, the "Thank you." seemed
very sincere.

Didn't Hollywood sign with the Fins for a short time ?

Henderson excelled as an outside linebacker, earning All-Pro honors for the 1977 season. Lawrence Taylor, perhaps the greatest player ever at the position, said that he was inspired to wear 56 because it was Henderson’s number.[SUP][2][/SUP] Henderson earned the nickname "Hollywood" for his flamboyant play and high-visibility lifestyle. "Hollywood" was such a good athlete that the Cowboys used him to run reverses on kickoffs, and he returned one for a touchdown. He was one of the first linebackers to run a 4.6 in the 40-yard dash. He helped lead the Cowboys to three Super Bowls, including a win in Super Bowl XII.

However, his destructive lifestyle of drugs and alcohol began to catch up with him. During many games, he snorted liquid cocaine from an inhaler he hid in his pants. The final straw came in 1979 against the Washington Redskins at RFK Stadium. While his team was being soundly beaten 34-20 on national television, Henderson was mugging for the camera and displaying handkerchiefs with the Cowboys team logo. When interviewed about it, he blamed teammate Preston Pearson, saying that Pearson had asked him to show off the handkerchiefs, which Pearson was marketing, as a favor. Coach Tom Landry was so angered by the episode that he deactivated Henderson for the rest of the season. "Landry had given me plenty of warning," Henderson admits. The next year would be his last, as he bounced from the Houston Oilers (1980) to the San Francisco 49ers (1980), while injured and continuing to use drugs.

I played basketball with an ex dolphins saftey..I looked him up, I remember that he played with us and the panthers..

I dont remember his name at all..I know he was not starter for us...He played for us during the Wanny days...

He actually was kind of a jerk and was not very good at basketball either..

He was really arrogant..

That was hardly Hollywood’s bottom, though. His alcoholism and drug abuse careened out of control for several years thereafter until his career ended with the Miami Dolphins in 1981. A broken bone in his neck during a preseason game formally ended his attempt at rehab. A rehab visit in that same year failed to stick. He believed that he didn’t qualify for such assistance. He finally checked into the Care Unit in Orange, Calif., on Nov. 8, 1983.

I thought he was he for a minute or two. Tried a comeback in 81 but got hurt. Never played a down that's why he wasn't in wikipedia.

I know mostly the defense and some offensive players. Have pics but no need to post them. I show them what all you "fans" are saying though

Every post of yours has something to do with all of us fans being stupid, or, god help us, not loyal enough, with a little hint of "i'm someone important, i have something to do with the team".

Number one, i could care less who you know, what you do, or who you do it to, and imo you do not know sheet about being a "fan"

There is no specific guideline for being a good fan, but i might just give it a shot.

When you are a good fan, it means you are emotionally involved, meaning how the team does, affects you in some way.

So, mr know it all, what do you think would happen to a bunch of fans that really care about a team that has performed the way our beloved Dolphins have the past few years?

Do you really think everyone on here would be exchanging recipes, and talking about how much talent our team has?

Are you a moron?

If we act in a way it seems you would like, that would suggest no emotional attachment, and not a very good fan, meaning no Henne jerseys, Wake jerseys, season tickets etc.

I might give you a small look into one fans life, mine, and for me, my most memorable moment as a fan, probably the last 15 or so years back in 2007.

I am not lucky enough to live in florida, so i had sunday ticket, we were VERY bad that year, but that team seemed to always battle.

Well around about half season i really began to fear we really couldn't win a game, and i thought we might really go 0-16. I watched every week, and every week something would happen that would turn into a loss.

Then we played Baltimore (around 0-13?), and i didn't even know who Camarillo was, until that week. I don't even know how we did it, because there was many times in that game where it looked like it wasn't going to happen again.

Then, in OT, Cleo found Camarillo on that incredible play that ed reed just missed (does he ever mess up?), and i wish i had a video of what i did. My wife really thought there was something wrong with me, i mean i even got a little misty eyed, it was one of the best games i ever saw, and to this day, i will always love Camarillo, if i ever run into him, i'm buying him dinner.

Anyways, i consider myself a true fan, live and die with each first down, only lately i seem to not be as deeply involved. I blame that on our front office. Since Parcells took over (yes i know he is gone now)all the stupid crap they have done, not just draft picks, but how they treated people, like JT, and not giving Zach a retirement press conference, and on, and on.

So, for the record, i never want the phins to lose, but i do not care what you or anyone else thinks, this franchise WOULD be better off at this point finishing, say 1-15, much more than 6-10, or 7-9.

After the season, clean house, and start fresh, rant off.

October 10 1993..Cleveland...it was a completely horrible day for me as a young 11 year old Dolphin fan when I ran into CB J.B. Brown after the game...It was at the team hotel and he introduced me to Bryan Cox I have pictures of the 3 of us in a safe deposit box at my bank...They made my day after being tormented by the horrible Browns fans after Marino got hurt....

I met JT once and just shook his hand and whatnot. Other than that, Ive never met another Fins player. I have met a ton of baseball and NBA players because of being in the right places at the right time (NBA PA conference once, MLB All Star break at a popular vacation spot another time). The one that stands out the most to me is Tim Hudson. I was pretty young at the time and was playing little league and he talked with me about baseball for like 20 minutes.
