Of course, this could be an opportune time to discuss whether the NFL should really be suspending people for substances that are not performance-enhancing. If you haven't been caught/charged/arrested, is it really the league's responsibility to police this area? Also, how many suspensions have we seen around the league this offseason alone? It seems much higher than usual to me to the point where it is legitimately (and I think there's a case to be made for "unnecessarily" as well) impacting games. I don't necessarily agree with the Welker suspension, but if it really is a scenario where they both were tested on the basis of this video, both pissed dirty, and only one player got suspended (which is a pretty big "if", since I doubt the NFL would ever consider drug-testing Terrific Tom in the first place), then you do have to ask if the NFL really is being fair and consistent with their policies.
