The Ravens scored 17 points in week 17, we scored 7. They played the Bengals, and we played a non-playoff team, the Jets. AND Flacco did it wearing a knee brace. How is that even remotely the same? I won't even attempt to also explain that the Ravens roster was dismantled after winning the superbowl, while ours has been built up.
The problem I have with keeping people in place is this....I'd like to give eveyone the benefitof the doubt but then I remember Wanny and Fiedler. I gave them time and time and felt they'd get it together but Wanny ran the team to the ground and Fiedler was never good to begin with either. We can make ourselfs believe that Ireland will draft better and that Philbin will coach better but we're just wasting time. Both Ireland and Philbin need to go now but the sad thing is I don't think Ross will pull the triger so we're stuck again.

Well they still "laid down". If "laying down" is definitive proof that the head coach is bad then logically Harbaugh must be bad. Tore down roster vs built up roster doesn't mean a whole lot considering how terrible we were last year, they could be torn down and still be much better than us--logic. Tannehill's leg was hurt as well so that's no excuse. Andy Dalton played worse than Geno Smith with a passer rating of 62, he threw 4 INTs, FOUR ****ING INTs and you're going to claim the Ravens played all world for John Harbaugh?
Here is what you guys are trying to pass of as "logic": If a team "lays down" week 17 with playoffs on the line then the coach of that team is bad.
John Harbaugh won a SuperBowl which means he is a good coach so obviously your logic is bad... unless you have another explanation?

I pretty much agree with all of this. I guess I am giving Ireland less benefit of the doubt based on the results of this year's draft. I get that you can't truly judge yet, but we needed some immediate help and didn't get any.

I've been waffling on keeping Philbin for some time.
I think he can be a great coach, but he needs to learn that you cant do the walk-softly/carry a big stick mentality when you're only 2 years as a HC and your team is still getting pieced together (albeit, quite half-assed from Ireland).
You need to fire up your guys, be stronger and more assertive at the reins in the first few years. I get the feeling like he's giving far too much control to Sherman and Coyle, and they're not handling adjustments from game-to-game as well as they could be.
