Interesting timing for this Pouncey Injury

IMHO, Pouncey, despite the positive feedback from the team, is not in their long term plans.
He probably decided to go ahead and take care of his body and prepare for 2015.
This is the changing of the guard.
Question is, who can take that position and play solidly.
Looks like this Oline overhaul has another year.

Hey you gotta love what free agency brings to the table money, mercenaries and very little loyalty. What a great team sport.

Teams are not loyal to players so why would one expect the players to be so loyal.

It's a stretch to think this anything more than an unfortunate injury. But man, this hurts.

(Been reading here for a while, finally decided to start posting. Fins up).

I'm gonna put on my tinfoil hat for a second. Does anyone else find the timing of this injury rather strange? Earlier this offseason, Pouncey was demanding a new contract. Now, in the midst of being the only consistent anchor for a revamped O-Line, he suddenly develops a hip injury that requires at least 3 months out. Obviously this will be detrimental in the early season and will show how needed it is. Do you think a new contract was part of the motivation to elect this surgery? Do you think he will sit out longer to further prove his point about his importance to the team to maybe speed up extension talks? I doubt it, but it is interesting to speculate on it. Very strange timing indeed.

If your right (doubt it), this might backfire in his face, considering Miami will have 2 young cheap options at center that will get a huge look at now because if his surgery, if one of them performs well, this will hurt his bargaining even more.

Agreed and to take it one step further most fans are not loyal to the players either but they still expect players to be loyal to their team. What you do hear on this site is everyone basically wants their team to play well and it takes talent to do that, bottom line. While I really miss the pre free agency days when a team could be built and not bought it still takes talent and Pouncey is a talented player on the field. Most opinions formed regarding not liking Pouncey currently revolve more what is a popular current theme in our culture regarding anti bullying regarding the Martin fiasco more than about Pouncy the player. It goes to show you how much culture has changed as Martin is concerned as in years past fans would have bashed Martins actions and written him off as a Bendict Arnold other than the current victim many fans have circled their wagon around.

Regardless everytime we loose a talented player some fans on this site want to bash those players and it just does not want sense if your a fan whom wants their team to do well. You keep the Vonte Davis, Pouncy's and Paul Solia of the world and what ever talent you can find.

Not if he has no intention of returning to Miami.

Bottom line is that the surgury was absolutely needed. Nobody goes in for surgury to try to get leverage for a contract. It just doesn't wash. Contract years are the time to play great and show how durable and needed you are. I'm just going to pretend that the NFL suspended him for a few games and I do expect him back right after the bye week or even before. The team knew that they might be without him for the start of the season so I'm sure a backup plan is in place plus we still have time to bring in a player who gets cut. Garner did a good job filling in last season. He'll do it again. This is lousy news and starting 5 new guys to begin a season is not a recipe for anything good but we've got to live with it and move past it. I wish Mike a speedy recovery and I'd love to see him back for real in 90 days. No more injuries please!!!

The rumor all over the Intranet is that he faked his torn labrum and paid the Doctor $150 cash to perform the fake operation.

The Dolphin's medical stiffs,

er I mean staff...

FAILS again.

If they ranked the NFL team medical staffs we would probably be dead last.
