Then by your logic it must be stupid to ever draft a QB in round one?

Rivers was a high first rounder and has done nothing to diminish that status, he simply came in behind a guy who put up Pro Bowl numbers.

By your reasoning we would have never drafted Marino, because according to you he had never played a meaningful down before we drafted him.

And by the way, if your more impressed with Brock Berlin and Sage Rosenfels than you are Phillip Rivers in regards to who has more potential as a starting QB in this league..........you need to watch a lot more gamefilm.

i agree with u b .f . and another thing badfoot we know that none of our qbs that we have are not going to be great (berlin maybe just maybe in time ) but we dont know what rivers can do but he must be pretty good or imo they would have signed brees to a long term contract hey !! badfoot you need to watch a lot more gamefilm:shakeno:

  Sorry, but this article seems like a "dramatic love triangle novel"-sort-of-story with a coach TORN between his two quarterbacks! And one will have to go soon! Oh the Drama!!!

what about the young and the restless or the days of our lives :rofl3: lol:lol:

I hope Drew or Phillip is put into a position to become Fin next season. Until then, I hope we can manage with what we have in camp.

personally, i'd very very much like to have Rivers.. and, as the post offered a few days ago, would be happy to give up our No. 1 pick next year for him... anyone ever taken a good look at his release and poise and number? ... seems eerily familiar to someone else i used to watch on sundays... can't remember his name...

Exactly! I loved Rivers in college. It would be amazing to have him in a Dolphins uniform in '06.

I'd "settle" for Brees, but the thing is - if it's Brees who is available next year, it likely means he had a down year in '05. If he has a good year, why on earth would the Chargers trade the most proven of the two? Still, a down Brees would be better than what we have now.

The saddest part of this is Drew should already be a Dolphin.
I'll never forget that draft,I was thrilled Drew was still on the
board,I just knew we had our QB,then they said Miami takes
DB J.Fletcher. *%#!!..&%

Yes, but do you think our fellow 'Fin fans would've had the patience to wait 3 years before Drew finally developed into a Pro Bowl QB? They're ready to boot Feeley out of town after a 1/2 season when he barely had anything to work with! Brees always had Tomlinson from the get-go!

I agree with you that we should've definitely drafted Brees over Fletcher but I also know Brees would've been crucified 10 times more than us 'Fin fans than those Chargers fans over that 3 year span! :shakeno:

rivers looked pretty good in the game against GB. granted, it was preseason, but he looked more impressive than our #3 & 4, that's for sure.

brees would have been run out of town after his horrendous 2003 season, that's for sure!

i guess the short attention span we all have does have its advantages; you are what you've recently accomplished. we're ignoring the process it takes to get there, but it is all about instant gratification...

Big difference, Brees was a rookie, Feeley was not, Brees was a highly considered prospect, Feeley was not.

Would we have given Brees three years to develop? I think so, we tolerated five years of Jay Fiedler.

We had a better team the first couple of years that Brees was in this league than San Diego did, in fact until last year San Diego was horrible, this very well may have contributed to Brees slow start in the league. Brees may have found himself much faster here.

I thought he was number 17. Are you thinking about John Friesz?

Actually I think we took Eddie Moore. Brees was a second rounder. It was also the year that we didn't have a first round.

No fletcher is hated for not being drew brees. Moore is hated for not being Boldin

I don't think Linehan would want Brees.... arm strength might be less than what he would like.

Brees doesn't have the arm to be effective in a vertical-stretch offense.

Pat Ramsey on the other hand........
