Ireland 2013 vs Hickey 2014 in FA?

It is too early to tell. There is nowhere to go but up.
The Ellerbee and Wheeler signings were terrible IMHO. Remember we got rid of Dansby and Burnett. The drop in production probably cost us the playoffs.
Add to that not signing Albert and realizing that Martin is not an NFL player. It was evident to me when we played Houston and he was rag dolled by Watt.
No NFL players gets abused like Martin did on and off the field. He could not admit his mistake.

The worst part is he didn't even acknowledge a mistake was a possibility. And I admit I'm biased in my hatred for him but I think he purposely didn't get any competition for Martin to force Philbin to play him.

I perceive a trend in the type of player Hickey has signed. Some of them bring a certain fieriness or grit to their play. That seems to be an attribute Hickey looks for where it didn't seem as important to Ireland. He was ok with drafting ******* like Martin. It will be interesting to see how this translates to production on the field and wins.

IDK, maybe just me, but I did not see getting Pouncey, Clay, and Wilson with six picks in 2011 as a bad draft or, getting Tannehill, OV, Miller, and Matthews being bad in 2012. No idea on 2013 yet but, Jordan can be a star, Taylor and Dallas may work out, and I do like Sims. JMO

I think the jury is still out. I think Ireland was not great at picking in the early part of the draft, especially 2nd rd picks. But to date, I do not like the moves Hickey has made, but he has lots of time to improve the team. If he knocks it out of the park in the draft and picks up after the draft and fills the rest of the holes I might like his moves better.

Not taking Ireland's side but, have to think he would have been thought of with a healthy Keller and Gibson. They were potentially great signings from the little we saw of them.
