Ireland Defenders Please Read

Although many of you want to excuse the poor coaching and execution yesterday by blaming Ireland, we actually lost yesterday because of the players, coaches, and GM yesterday. I'm not defending Ireland, but if a player plays well one week and then fails the next, there's another variable in the equation besides the GM. Ireland may suck, but the loss yesterday isn't on him nearly as much as it is on the coaches and players.

I blame whatever weakness we have in Sherman as far as coaching goes. Coyle has had his moments too. But Sherman has called good games too, but he goes away from what works trying to outsmart the opponent but ends up outsmarting himself. I dont blame going less run yesterday, I blame him not using all our TE's like he did when we looked good. Im surprised these guys are from Green Bay.

best reciever in football. one of the best DT in Suh. Stafford was suppose to be the second coming.

Tony Romo who ESPN cant stop talking about....dez bryant.

I'll give you some time to see if you can figure out the fallacy in your point. If not, I'll be happy to explain it to you using finger puppets and crayons.

You can do it though.

just wait til we get to the offseason and start breaking down the cap and replacing all the guys who wont be here next year. ireland blew his load last year. there is no money to bring in quality free agents even if ireland could identify them and as we all know the cupboard is bare from lousy drafting.

At what point do we look at the coaches ability to maximize the players ability? I hate Belicheck but the guy gets the most out of his talent. Rookies play early and are allowed to grow. we've got Taylor and Davis who have barely sniffed the field. Jordan has been held back etc. That's on the Coaches. Ellerbe and Wheeler signings were questionable and Misi is a decent player who I think is playing out of position. IMO he's evolved in a MLB and has the size and speed to play the position, my only question is his ability to Tackle.

My beef with Ireland is around the drafting, is he seems to out think himself. He got this from Parcels, instead of taking a player who has produced he always seems to go after players who have the potential to produce.

Firing Ireland is a slippery slope as a new GM would probably want his own coach so that would mean dumping Philbin who I do not think has done a bad job, which would mean rebuilding again which isn't what anyone wants.

Ireland needs to be held accountable for his mistakes and if things can't be ironed out then a philbin friendly GM needs to be brought in. Philbin needs to make some changes to his staff. Sherman needs to go as he is a horrible game day OC, Taylor needs to go with him as he is a familiar voice for Tannehill and if we want him to improve he needs a proven coach with a track record of developing QB's. On Defense Coyle needs to go, his Defenses have regressed the past two years. He struggles to make adjustments and is his inexperience as DC is hurting us.

difference makers.....thats what you said.

and harry, please be sure to tell me which "difference makers" we need to pick in this draft. Because thats when anything you say becomes relevant to me. Its too easy to bash hindsight 20-20. anyone can play that game. too easy my friend.

Darnit. I'm disappointed you couldn't figure it out. :(. One more chance though. Let's see if you can figure out the fallacy in this arguement. I'll allow a life line. If there's an elementary school near you, I'll allow you to ask one of the students to help you.

Good luck. I'm rooting for you this time.

Pay him first.

I think I'll throw him a life preserver here.

The Bag man isn't suggesting that he should be the new Miami Dolphins General Manager. Which means he shouldn't be giving you answers on who we should draft or which specific players we should target this offseason. He's suggesting that someone who isn't an incompetent, clownshoes-wearing buffoon should be brought in to make those decisions. And I think he would agree that there is no guarantee that a replacement General Manager would be an upgrade.

However, this is not a valid or compelling argument to keep someone with a track record of incompetence in the very highest position of decision-making within your organization.

Make a list of players that Jeff Ireland acquired that have thrived with different coaches? Brandon Marshall, Jake Long...and thats about it. 6 free agent periods and 6 drafts, and 2 guys can be definitively identified. Maybe Vontae deserves a mention as well, but i have it on good authority that dude is terribly awful(thank god Ireland spent a 1st round pick on him, amirite?).

Sure, its possible that Sparano and Philbin have destroyed the careers of every player Jeff Ireland has brought in, to the point that their careers are so irrecoverably damaged that they are utterly beyond redemption. But the far more likely scenario is that Ireland just cant judge talent.

As for the underlined, slippery slope arguments are usually logical fallacies(in this case it is, seeing as how Ross hired Phiblin over objections from Ireland). And if you are going to blame the coaches for Ireland's failures, you probably shouldnt then immediately say "if we lose Ireland, we might also lose Philbin!".

I am in no way a stringent Ireland support. He has made some questionable and outright bad moves no question about it. But, what I'm trying to understand is the following:

What fairy tale team are you people looking for? How many teams in this league are damn near perfect? Meaning they've made all the right moves. Additionally, all those moves are made at the right price etc.

My football knowledge tells me that every team is flawed! Further and this is probably shockingly to some of you. But, the team with the best Roster doesn't necessarily win the SuperBowl every season.

Ultimately, it's the right combination of strong areas and not so strong area roster wise and a coaching staff that understands this critical balance to maximize and masked those areas.

Well, did your "football knowledge" tell you since before the draft that this OL sucked? Mine did...and he did nothing about it. So, either your "football knowledge" sucks...or you're defending a guy will less "football knowledge" than you. Which is it???

really harry? lets talk about the dallas cowboys and the detroit lions and their awesome talent.

The two worst coaches in football and I think Jason Garrett might actually be worse than Sparano. Its funny because when people complain about Philbin underachieving with the talent we have those are the two teams that come to mind for me, two teams loaded with talent yet we have a better record than them under Philbin.

Here I will explain it to you with finger puppets and crayons.
The Miami Dolphins play in the A.F.C. eastern division.
For the Miami Dolphins to succeed they must be able to win in bad weather games at Buffalo , New York , and New England.
Some times it might be very cold and snowing or raining.
To move the ball and make first downs we need big strong ugly offensive linemen to push the other teams defensive linemen out of the way.
Are you with me so far ?
Then we need a big strong guy to carry the ball.
These are people like Larry Czonka , Ricky Williams , Ronnie Brown .
We do not have any guys like this.
we have a really good guard playing center (head bob) an old man playing left tackle.
And three left over scrubs.
We have small running backs that can't break a tackle.
we do not have a #1 receiver.
We let our best go to Chicago.
So tell me why you love Ireland ?

Do you blame these guys for being who and what they are ? Or do you blame the man that hired them ?

If your talking to me, I am not in love with Ireland. If the man says time to go, its time to go, but I would think they would do this with someone good in mind to work with Philbin. Otherwise, you might as well just get rid of the whole bunch.

and let me tell you something. A kid was wearing a Marshall jersey yesterday in my posse. I asked him if he really thinks that guy makes us a better team. No answer, just shrugged. Ok, so its really about big names and not what fits, I get it.

But lets let some reality settle in here in regards to Ireland. Philbin was his new Associate. The new guy, picked by the owner, who Ireland basically agreed to work with, is going to start it all off with pounding the table for a guy who pulled a NYC stunt off at a nightclub, done on purpose to get out of Miami, where everyone who can read bodylanguage can see, he wants to be back with his buddy Cutler. His wife Stabbed his azz, and he is still with her!!!!!!

And so please tell me how this "difference maker" is helping Chicago get into the playoffs? Because it seems to me, they are in the same F'n boat we are jack!
