Ireland telling scouts to look for players who fit 4-3

misi worries me really bad @ MLB ..... dansby and burnett could transition tho and wake shouldn't be a problem at DE but we do need someone else on the other side of him.

Phillip Merling anyone?????

DE: Cameron Wake
DT: Jared Odrick
DT: Randy Starks
DE: Phillip Merling

OLB: Karlos Dansby (although I perfer him as MLB)
MLB: ????
OLB: Kevin Burnett

LDE:Odrick
DT:Starks
DT:Solai
RDE:Wake

SLB:Mitchell
MLB: Dansby
WLB:Burnett

Sign Mathis to a value contract to be pass rush specialist and push Odrick inside on passing downs. If we can get a young MLB in the 3rd or 4th round, kick Dansby out to SLB to use his blitz ability.

ikaika alama francis and merling will be cool backups in a 4-3. alamafrancis to me is like tolefson or kiwanuka on the giants. should be a good rotational player. i hate to say it but i think yeremiah bell still has some juice left in the tank. guy just lays the wood. i wouldn't mind seeing us play a little more 3 safety 3 corner sub packages where bell comes up into the box. only thing is you need better people on the back end then clemons and jones.

also does langford really fit a 4-3? isn't he a prototype for the 5 technique?

Langford is a classic 5 tech, he is not a guy that you want hitting gaps. He can still play in a 43. You would just have to tailor a role for him in that 43.

If we do go to a 43 d we would def need a saftey that can play half the field..I am not sure that Bell and Jones can do that..Also in a 43 were gonna play more zone all together..I wonder if our Db's feel comfortable with that.

almost every player in college is a 4-3...so what exactly are the scouts doing different by scouting players that play in a 4-3? All of our 3-4 current roster played in 4-3 defenses in college, and switch to a 3-4 in the pros, not the other way around.

What do you guys think of Shawn Spence from the U. He's projected 2nd or 3rd and is a little light at 225 but what a playmaker.

Wish we would switch to a 4-2-5. That would be best for the spread offense most teams are using these days.

Had we drafted Patrick Willis.. with Dansby next to him, we would have the ideal linebackers to run a 4-2-5. Oh well.

As far as MLB goes, I don't like the guy but Crowder is a solid, not great or anything, but solid MLB. The 3-4 never fit him well.

IF WE GET MANNING OR FLYNN...we should let paul and langford walk... Draft Devon Still in the 1st , Vinny Curry or Andre Branch in the 2nd and Audie Cole in the 3rd.... we could address our offensive hole in FA.. I know it may not be the sexiest draft but I THINK if your going to change for a 3-4 to a 4-3 instead of singing free agents why not draft some young bodies ??? it's cheaper and better in the long run because you can mold these guys and have a good defense for the next 8-10 years..

Sad to say, the best CFL candidate for a 4-3 MLB, Solomon Elimimian, was signed yesterday by Minnesota. A little undersized, but that's the kind of MLB you need in a 4-3, a fast, agile, animal-like tackler who can drop back if need be.
