Ireland Working the Phones Regarding Trades...

He gets demerits for the OL, but stars for Keller and especially Gibson. No one's fault the injury bug came a'callin' so if he's hustling to replace either of these guys with a reasonable facsimile w/o mortgaging the future, then why not give it a go ? :idk:

I for one think Ireland's job is on the line and he is in desperation mode. I would not be surprised one bit if he makes a move because if he's done at the end of the year the damage is already done should he lose his job. The incoming GM would be left with much less to work with. This has the workings of a lion backed into a corner and may not end well. That being said, how many times have we heard that he is "working the phones" trying to make a trade only to promote someone from the practice squad? I believe that is a move to save face and "show" that all options were exhausted.

Didn't Ireland just get an extension?

If it's possible to get a Josh Gordon or Justin Blackmon dirt cheap because the Browns desperately want to cut bait due to substance abuse issues... I jump all over that.

Losing Gibson was huge. And it's not just about this year. If you can acquire good talent for a bargain, you do it.

Ireland was so busy working the phones for a trade that he had time to call his nemesis Armando Salguero and let him know, just because. OK.

Ireland is friends with Salguero.

I doubt anything happens but we do need a depth WR. could be picked up via practice squads around the league im sure

Ireland will get the blame if the season heads south yet the problems are with coaching. Ireland should have been fired with Tony, but Ireland is not the issue right now.

"Philbin was offered Josh Gordon for a 6th round pick and he turned it down saying 'Tom Brady was a 6th round pick; no way I'm trading a potential Tom Brady'".

or

"Dolphins trade Cam Wake for a 3rd round pick.."
