Is Brown Going To Hold-Out???....

The problem with this situation is that Ronnie is technically declared a holdout as we enter camp a week earlier than most teams. It is possible that Alex Smith could sign the day before the Niners enter camp and never become a holdout, whilst Ronnie would then have missed a week of camp.

Actually the problem is that the fans all would consider it a "hold-out" even though technically it is no such thing. A player that is not under contract can not possibly hold out. It is up to both sides to reach a deal before training camp. If he doesn't get in on time, it is at least as much the team's fault as it is his fault. I think he's shown with his attitude that he's not going to demand anything more than what should be coming to him.

This anger at him over the possibility that his contract is not done by training camp is misdirected.

i think he just waiting for the #1 to sign so he knows what the rate is...thats usually how it happens, the #1 dictates what the #2 gets...if alex holds out then there might b a concern.....yeah ronnie may miss a bit of TC...who knows the duration......yeah, due to his character that he has shown thus far, i wouldnt anticipate him holding out to long
 you are exactly right. We just need B#### a$$ Smith to sign

I think alot of people are talking him holding out solely because hes the #2 pick

No matter what we want to happen, he will not be in camp on time. Look at the history of high picks. They push with all of the leverage they can to get the most they can. It's a business, man. It has nothing to do with anything more than that.

I've heard his agent is pretty normal, not like Drew Rosenhouse, and i think Ronnie wants to play so i think he will sign for good money but not be to hard... i hope

Seems right. Rookies who hold out usually have a rotten rookie season football-wise. I think Ronnie wants to play and learn and contribute right away. Seems like a good guy so I don't think he'll get greedy.

Negotiations typically heat up in the few days befor TC opens, so I imagine the FO is working hard with the agents for all the draft picks this week.
Only a handful of draft picks have signed around the league. This is not unique to the Dolphins.

Or Could Saban be up to his old tricks again?

Did Saban plant the seeds for the story on how Ronnie may miss TC and how Gordon may start the season? What better way to increase Gordon's worth in the open market then to make it seem like he is needed on this team?

I've personally thought it a bit odd that the reason (as given in these articles) that Ronnie might miss camp is that his agent will wait to see how much Smith gets before signing a contract. Sure "slotting" takes place but its pretty hard to slot a RB based off of a #1 picked QB.

PS I posted this in another thread but it seemed relevant here as well.

he's not holding out, he's just waiting for Alex Smith to sign with the 49ers and he's gonna try to get all the money he can from the 49ers

If we are waiting on Smith to sign, remember that the 49ers open training camp a week after us!

We got ours a year early...Don't worry, he will be hard to miss. He is starting at QB for us.
