Is Brown Going To Hold-Out???....

What's so hard to believe about Gordon starting. If brown doesnt report or is still un-signed with ricky's 4 game suspension who else is going to start?

Travis Minor? :rofl3:

just give him a 5 year deal worth about 30 million thats seems about right

1) i did not know that about NBA players. good info.. thanks

2) if Brown holds out and misses the 1st regular season game, and R. Williams is on his 4 game "sit down time".... do you really think travis will get the start over Gordon??

Yes, I do. Gordon is nothing more then a 3rd down back. I dont care what anybody "wants" to believe about him. Thats what infurated me last year, when we gave a 3rd for his sorry a$$. He was worth nothing more then a 6th rounder. Travis, in an improved OL, and a more aggressive coaching philosophy, should be a 180 of himself last year. And dont discount Kay-Jay, he aint a chump either. I'd say we end up dealing Gordon, for a 5th, before its all over and done. At least thats what I hope. He aint worth negotiating with, and he aint worth having on the team. Take what JAX is willing to give.

I keep hearing, what I suspect are nothing but rumors, about RB R. Brown holding out, and not reporting to Training Camp on time. Then there are these other rumors about RB L. Gordon actually being considered our starting RB on opening day too....

Where is this stuff coming from, and who's reporting these things???....

Sound like a bunch of BS to me, and I'm sick of hearing it. Why in the hell would Brown hold out in the first place??...He knows he'll get his contract, and he's a smart kid who sounds like he's committed to this franchise. I would think Saban and our guys would be able to convince Brown to show, and participate on the opening day of TC, and everyday there after, contract or not....

Is this a serious issue, or just serious Horse****!!!....

Please. Before I go down to TC myself, I want the facts behind these ridiculous rumors to be buried. I still can't believe Brown would hold out....

PHINZ RULE!!!!

He has to wait for the number one pick to sign so they have a scale to use for his contract. It's the way things work, its no big deal. You are overreacting. Calm down, relax, before you get worked up about somethign make sure you know completely whats going on.

Hes not holding out, he just needs alex smith and maybe braylon edwards to sign before he does. Its most likely his agents rules that he doesn't negociate until alex smith is signed. It would make his agent look extremely bad if Brown agreed to a deal right now before anyone was signed. A few weeks later benson/cadillac sign and they are making more money than brown.

That is not accurate. Very often the number overall pick is not the first to sign. Agents usually use the slotted pick from the year before as a gauge to start negotiations.
Browns agent using Alex Smith as an excuse is lame.
He should show some integrity (an oxymoron) and negotiate in good faith.

Two years ago, Carson's contract was done before the draft even happened. Eli's went quick last year. So, your statement isn't all together true. Some FO work with the player, some try to stalemate the player, to bargain them down. And that would be who? Oh yeah, SF's.

I don't see Brown's agent letting him sign before August, just a hunch I have!

Actually the problem is that the fans all would consider it a "hold-out" even though technically it is no such thing. A player that is not under contract can not possibly hold out. It is up to both sides to reach a deal before training camp. If he doesn't get in on time, it is at least as much the team's fault as it is his fault. I think he's shown with his attitude that he's not going to demand anything more than what should be coming to him.

This anger at him over the possibility that his contract is not done by training camp is misdirected.

CK ... very wise post.

Yeah his agent wants to wait until after Smith is signed so he can get fair value in Ronnie's contract.
That is what I have heard and that is consistant with the signings every year. We just haven't had too many top picks lately to have felt this thankfully :D
