Is Chad Henne on a Short Leash?

i know if i was henne and they pulled me early this year i'd be looking to get the hell out of here at the end of this season...henne has earned the right with his play last year to be given a fair look...but sparano is so far up pennys *** its not funny...

the guy that means squat for our long term future...

Because everyone wants to credit Sparano for the 2008 season... when in reality it was Pennington that won him all those games (along with a weak schedule)... and HE knows it... that's why he's up Penny's ***...

NOW you're going to find out EXACTLY how good of a coach he REALLY is.. in more ways than one..

yeah i know...and it scares me...clock management to personnel management

LoL. i am behind Henne i like the kid and he is our startin QB and i think he should be.

but i guess im goin back to 08-09 off season and going to the term "HENNE FLUFFERS"

no one is blindly supporting pennington to start. but all of you are blindly supporting Henne and ignoring his evident short comings. i hope he does better during the regular season but admit penny as outplayed him this offseason. even the training camp reports were saying it was happening in practice. get a grip. no one is saying we shoudl start penny right now but u guys have got to please give henne some room to use the toilet..back up off his ****.

As for Marshall - you guys again strike out. Pennington actually seems to get marshall the ball better. Marshall is actually a short yardage reciever who turns it into big yards - or a reciever that can go up and grab floaty passes. not saying Henne wont make good use of him, but hes not a run all the way down the field guy - so henne's strengths dont 100% go with Marshall and theres no proof Henne with Marshall is better than Penny to Marshall...the only difference is with Henne, teams have to respect the long ball to hartline or someone. Marshall made Orton look good ok. Penny is the better QB there.

i hope Henne comes out and silences all this with leadership, actually hitting wide open recievers more than 60% of the time, and winning. but if he doesnt - deal with it and prepare for talking about the situation.

I would never signed on to this argument originally, but I there's a comparison to made here between this situation and the Young/Montana wars of the late 80s and early 90s. Steve Young was never really able to take control of that team until Montana left town before the 1993 season.

Low and behold, Steve Young leads the team to the Super Bowl in 1994.

There's some pretty stark differences, though. Montana was more overt about wanting to play and wasn't the greatest teammate on the bench. He also wasn't the kind of verbal, take charge leader that Pennington is.

Still, though that team had success with both guys on the roster, I'd agree it took getting rid of Montana to make that Steve Young's team.

but you know what...this isn't rocket science...it's football common damn sense...how damn hard is it to figure out??? ****

what you are is blind if you think you can win a superbowl with chad pennington under center...point blank blind...what's in the water in jersey??? :)

damn...how did i leave out the at minnesota game for GUARANTEED losses with penny under center...lmao...that's 6 i can count already

hell the chances of winning a playoff game with him unless we luck out getting a soft team like Cinci is 20%, considering he's won 1 out of 5 in his PO career vs 'Top 10 Scoring D's'

The only way they bench Henne is if his arm falls off. The guy was the second coming of Marino after Jacksonville, now people want to see Pennington. Unreal. If they benched Henne, it would totally send the opposite message that they've been conveying. The front office has been rebuilding and getting younger on both sides of the ball. Why would you bench the guy that you want to be your QB for the next ten years for a guy that may lead you to the playoffs in 2010, but then what? The short term benefit definitely does not outweigh the long term benefits of having Henne as your starter. Not everyone cones into the league and lights everyone up. Henne is going to have growing pains. It's part if the process.

PS. It's the preseason.

lol were one of the ppl who said hes the second coming of marino? b/c i thought that was NUTTS.

you have to let Henne develop and take the lumps with his growing pains. of course pennington can look good for awhile but the odds are he won't last and he's easier to gameplan against with that noodle.

i dont think this team can win a superbowl period right now. What makes you so sure penny cant and henne can? neither has been close but penny has been to the playoffs many more times.

what about henne's "strong" arm equates to wins? i havnt really seen it yet. except one or 2 plays to Ginn who is gone now.
