I don't know if he's on a short leash, but I know he's short on talent!

you're not a troll. lol.

Having a veteran backup is done when you have an entrenched starter that is the CLEAR leader and the organization has CLEARLY commited to... In other words, you bring in a guy like Jon Kitna to backup Tony Romo.. it works.. You bring in a guy like Rex Grossman to backup Donavan McNabb... You have a guy like Chris Redman backup Matt Ryan...

The point is, it's CLEAR who the best QB on the team is, and who the team is commited to... the veteran is only there for a cushion to keep from having to throw some 6th round rookie into the fire if the starter gets hurt...

This situation is completely different... if you can't see that I can't help you...

Show me another 2nd or 3rd year quarterback in the NFL who is the CLEAR "starter" that has to compete with a 10 year veteran for the teams ear on the sideline...

It's not on Henne... the front office... period.

amigo... I think this statement says far more about your opinion of Henne than anything else...

Jeff Garcia backed up McNabb and Griese... in EXACTLY that situation... didn't hurt them. In fact they do it a lot in Philly... see mike Vick.

The funny part about all this is that we are arguing like there is a QB controversy here... Not so... Henne has the ball on sundays... He is GETTING HIS SHOT... Penny's got the clipboard and was signed knowing it...

HOnestly if you think that Henne is gonna suffer because of pressure from behind him or from FO expectations... he DOES NOT BELONG IN THE LEAGUE... PERIOD. if he cant take charge and lead with the ball in his hands he will get yanked... AGAIN... How is this different from any other team in the league where a players tenure is determined by his performance??????

Once again... this is not about Penny... It's Henne's job... Too freakin' bad if it's not the perfect scenario... or he doesn't have all the time in the world... Cry me a freakin' river... Fans, ownership, management, coaches and fellow players EXPECT RESULTS... This team is NOT AWFUL... If they underperform expect changes...

The kid started day one in one of the biggest college programs on the planet... HE KNOWS PRESSURE... I don't know why everyone on here seems so intent on coddling him.

your very mistaken if the F.Office isnt pondering the same thing about now about this potential QB problem. So is it all about the right 53, right?

It's official.....I can't help you Fishy... This is my last attempt then you can go back to licking your Chad IthoughtEdReedwasonmyteamington fathead....

We know Henne is getting the ball on gameday... (for now)

"I" (can't stress that enough) know that Henne isn't the best QB on the roster RIGHT NOW...and so do the guys that are going to go out there and play every Sunday.... but it's not comparing apples to apples... You can't compare a guy with a dozen starts to a 10 year vet...

Henne isn't going to suffer from Pennington being there other than playing tight and trying to play like Pennington.. that's not who he is as a quarterback...

Henne can go out and play quarterback just fine with Pennington playing Mr. Miyagi on the sidelines... Hell, throw it here... throw it there.. yes he can do that..but it's STILL not the point.. The point is he can't LEAD the team with Pennington here...

A football team has to have ONE CLEAR LEADER, and it has to come from the QB position....

I don't even know why I'm debating this with you because I know I'm right..... and you're going to see why this season if they keep Penny and don't trade him before the deadline..

Well, actually yes I do know why... because it's what we like to do... Amigo...

If he's not now, he will be after we embarrass him on September 12th.

This qb situation would only work with a few franchises today. OAK, BUF, SF, MIA and AZ.

And to the comments on Ryan and Flacco. Both guys were given the reigns with out having to deal with a 10 yr vet in their ear. Their franchises gave them the ball and said go get'em.

This franchise instead said wait til 2010 and btw were going to use another 2nd rd pick on a qb. This franchise has had 1 guy step up and say he's the leader, to bad the FO can't do teh same.

It's only fun if we disagree...

I get your point my friend I really do... But truly If Henne comes out slinging and plays the way he can... This team, its fans and FO are gonna fall right in line behind the meat covered robot. All he has to do is produce and Chad ICouldaBeenAContenderIngton will be yesterday's news...

If he slings it... They will come.

penny took a bad football team to the playoffs, henne couldn't bring a good football team to the playoffs! bum shoulder and all, henne will never be the leader penny is. you dont get by on talent alone!!!

I am surprised noone has brought up Mark Sanchez in this thread. Well, then...I will: Just imagine we had Sanchez instead of Henne. There wouldn't be a QB controversy because Pennington would start :-)

He Ought to be on a short leash.. he's the worst QB in the league. Maybe Leinart is worse. Nahh.. Henne.
