For example, grabbing Cleveland’s second- and third-round picks this year would also require next year’s first-round pick at a minimum.

Miami’s 13th overall selection is valued at 1150 points according to Johnson’s chart, Cleveland’s second and third combine for 600, leaving the Browns 550 points (or approximately the 35th overall pick) short of even compensation. And considering the Browns are expected to compete in 2019, asking for a late first-round pick is well within Miami’s reason, considering the team can charge “interest” on the lack of return in Year 1.

    Would be very interesting.

I hope some team is a trade back partner for Miami.

I think there could be a couple of teams interested in Miami's pick brother.

If there a run for QB's early is could push other talented players down and a team that needs a QB or another talented player that they didn't expect to be there. I hope it happens and they can agree on a deal.

I wonder why they’d write this article using a dated trade value chart. Since the slotting system, the values have changed wildly

Brother it is probably for reference. If a team wants a player bad enough they are going to make it happen.

Only one problem with your idea... a first “next year” is not worth the same value as this year....the trade chart applies to the current draft... generally future picks traded are devalued by one round per year.

So a first next year is equal to a 2nd this year in value in trade.

So in reality....we are getting potentially a late 2nd rounder in value.

However... if landing your QB next year is your goal... it might be acceptable....I would think another pick as well would be in order though.

Nice post bro. I am sure the Dolphins would maximize the picks in return. I really like having Reggie in the front office this year.

However, a first round pick next year would be very valuable if we do need to trade up for our desired qb

Just an idea as they may want to trade back into the first round.

Normally a player or two slip from the consensus spot most thought they would be off the board, it all depends on how bad another team might what that player.

If all the top QB’s are off the board, a likely scenario, when MIA picks Im listening to all offers.
