Is Fins Vs. Jets Rivalry one sided???

Is this a joke? Ask Jet's players how they feel about the Dolphins. It's not that they hate the Patriots more, they want to win that game more that's all. Since they're the Patriots and that's a great measure of how you're playing.... but like I said ask them how they feel about the Dolphins.

If you asked the players who they hate more its easily the Patriots, I hate the Patriots more than the Dolphins too. I think its because we have been losing to the Patriots so much in the recent years, and also their success.

The week up to the Patriots our players were all pumped up to beat the Patriots, our players aren't really talking about how the Dolphins, its just the Dolphin players saying how much they hate the Jets. Our team is pumped to play, but that is more because its Monday night football, and we are coming off a loss. Also because its a division game.

It seems like it's more of an AFC East thing. All of the teams seem to have a lot of animosity towards each other (the Colts were historically a part of this as well).

thats bull, considering we knocked them out of the playoff hunt last year with Chad Pennington

The older Jets fans still haven't gotten past the hate from the Dan Marino era and hate the Dolphins more then any other team. The newer Jets fans hate the Patriots more because that has become the biggest rivalry in the division over the last 10-12 years due to a variety of reasons.

I hate them both but still hate the Phins more. The rivalry has been one sided though over the last decade plus and that has taken the steam out of it just a bit.

I think everyone is a secret dolphins fan.. u really can't find a reason not too root for us

Everyone just wants to be the patriots because of their recent success. And in today's world its all about today. History proves this rivalry but I think since we fell off about 6 years ago its all about the Jets and Pats, its all about today.

Also lets put it this way, you say your team is pumped just b/c its MNF and a divisonal game, but i guarantee you they are more pumped to play us than the bills.

I hate the Jets mostly because of how many New Yorkers live in South Florida, it may not be as big a deal in New York, but it pisses me off when everywhere you go in South Florida you're more than likely to see more New york fans than Miami fans no matter what the sport. I went to a Duffy's once last year to enjoy a dolphins game, up in Boynton Beach, the game on the big screen was New York Jets vs. New England Patriots, the audio that was heard around the restaurant was the Jets game, 98% of the people there were New york Jets fans, they would be going crazy over the game as I watched the home teams game (Miami Dolphins vs. Arizona Cardinals) on one of the smaller TVs with no game audio, It pissed me off enough that they were getting there ***** beat, but these ****in New Yorkers think they run the place

The Dolphins are our most historical rival and all Jet fans, old and younger, still can't stand them.

However in recent years, the Pats have easily surpassed the Dolphins in terms of the team we hate the most and are now the enemy for the Jets players, coaches and fans. You hear Jenkins calling the Pats game "our Super Bowl" or Rhodes saying he wants to "embarrass" Brady. You will not hear that type of talk for Dolphins games.

I think from a Jets' perspective, they feel that they need to beat the Pats in order to win the AFCE and get where they want to go, and don't view the Dolphins as much of a threat compared to the Pats.

Jets-Dolphins is still a good rivalry though, but Jets-Pats is the biggest right now.

I think it's cyclical. It depends who's on top. In the 70's, I always knew Bills week was a win. In the 80's, the Bills were still no big deal, but the Jets, no matter how bad they were, were always a problem. They were tough for us in the late 70's too. I HATED Wesley Walker. But when the Bills became dominant in the early 90's, they became my most hated team, passing the Jets. I was always kind of back and forth with the Pats, cause we'd usually split - we lose in NE they lose in Mia. But since Wannstedt we haven't really been competing with anyone for the top spot since our teams haven't been very good; rivalry in the pro's often comes in when you're competitive for a division title and can't get passed a team in your way. If we turn things around and we're fighting the Patriots and the Jets into the last 2-3 weeks of a given season, a rivalry will heat up with the team we can't get past, and for them the team they can't get past. Right now, I still have a lingering hatred for the Bills from the early 90's thing, but my hatred for the Jets runs deep, from my pre-pubescent childhood in the late 70's. The Patriots I hate, but they run such a top-flight organization that while you hate them, you envy how they manage the draft, and turn every player they bring in into a contributor.

When i was growing up, I always hated the Bills the most.... but no one likes any other team in their own division i'd guess. The current MOST hated is probably usually the current best competition in division.

I also think that coach was just trying to stay off the bulletin board.

Lately, I wouldn't be surprised. The Jets have had our # for awhile and that could have caused them to relent on their hatred, while for us just made it worse.

Of course beating them in their house in week 17 with their former QB couldn't have felt too good and may have sparked something, I haven't seen Jets/Dolphins fans talking this much trash on both teams boards in a long time.

If we beat them against Monday i'd say the rivalry is sparked up again for both fan bases.

I was listening to Sirius this morning and they were interviewing an asst. coach for the Jets and he was talking about how for the Jets it's just another week and with FA it makes it difficult to keep a rivalry going because players come and go so much...

The host mentioned how he has worked for both teams and he has noticed the same thing from the Jets, they have a hatred for the Pats, but the Fins is just another divisional game. When he worked for the Fins all they talked about was beating the Jets...

I know the last few years the rivalry hasn't been all that much, but I figured that was due to the fact that both teams have sucked for the better part of a decade....or are rivalrys really dead?

I still think the rivalry is going strong. I also feel like the "Just another game" mentality is a cop out and its like an unconscious way that actually in my opinion keeps it going. Like the idea of thinking of the Dolphins as "not worth our time worrying about" because of the Pats. Oh please, the Jets have an inkling of a decent START of a season and they are all of a sudden on this high horse and too good to even think about the Dolphins. Screw them. And look who won the freaking division last year!

Neither the Jets or Fins have been relevant in the last decade as being super bowl contenders.

Hard to fuel a rivalry like that, right now it just falls into divisonal rivalry category.

I HATE the jets and their fans more than any other sports team in existence.

thats bull, considering we knocked them out of the playoff hunt last year with Chad Pennington

the Jets were already out of the playoff race when they were still winning the game. They had nothing to play for. Eliminate Miami and put in...New England?

anyway, it's a streaky rivalry. Doesn't seem like you have many instances where the teams exchange wins and losses over a 5-6 year period.
