Is it time to start asking what's up with Dion Jordan?

There were elite players in 2013...they just weren't taken in top 10. ... Tyler Eifert was a nice weapon for Cincy last year, Cordarrelle Patterson made some huge plays for Minnesota last year mostly in the return game but I think this year he could be a major impact in the passing game ...

Please stop, the wound is still too fresh. I was pushing hard for both of those guys and gutted when we let them slip past us and traded up for Dion Jordan.

At least if we were going to trade up I hoped we would solve the LT problem. Instead it imploded into a fiasco and we watched as Patterson and Eifert started to look like exceptional prospects.

Ugh ... we didn't add explosive play makers at TE or WR and we still have OL issues.

You just described Jeff Ireland's entire tenure with the Miami Dolphins.

I say we trade his arse to the Eagles for a high draft pick and Sanchez.. Dump Quinn.. And swapp the draft pick to anyone for an above average guard.. Or whatever.. We are deep on the DL.. Get a linebacker.. Anything.

wait what? Did you just advocate bringing buttfumble aboard?

In the past trade rumors surrounding Jordan to the Eagles included Graham...

I still think there is some truth to it. How do you know that Vernon didn't push himself to go that extra mile because we drafted Jordan? There is some merit to the philosophy of trying to create one elite unit rather than a bunch of mediocre units. A bunch of good WRs (or DEs) could push each other from good to the realm of elite through competition for playing time. And if you have an elite group of WRs that might mask the issues you have at RB or o-line.

It looks to me like we want to stack the playmaking positions of WR, CB and DE with the hopes that if those positions are elite the weaker positions won't matter so much. I won't be shocked at all if we take a WR or CB in the first next year even if we appear to be loaded at those positions.

As a life long Canes fan I don't think anyone could have predicted Vernon playing as good as he's shown us. No doubt there is a fire under his rear end from competition, but effort only goes so far until natural talent and willingness to learn kicks in.

I didn't anticipate Jordan taking this long to show flashes, I'm expecting Gerald McCoy production with his high draft selection. If not the first year, then second it should all come together.

However, it's not Jordan's fault he was drafted so high. Maybe expectations would have been much lower had he been drafted in the late 1st to high second round. If we switch him to LB then that's a message to the league he's not working out well for us. Draft value goes much lower.

Man... after watching Jadaveon Clowney these past couple of preseason games... I'm having my doubts about Dion. I gave him the benefit of the doubt last season due to injury/limited TC, but he hasn't shown much to make any of us believe he'll ever be anything special.

The good news is that move was probably the straw that broke the camels back for Ireland. If he takes Johnson or trades the second for Albert I have no doubts he's still here ****ing things up for Tannehill and Philbin.

I don't know if anyone actually watched him college here, but he never had a real position, and wasn't on the field, quite often.

He was kind of like a charles clay but on defense. He did a lot, but didn't have a real position, and didn't Play anything like he would be asked to in the NFL.

Thats why the team is focusing him at the D end position, he needs to learn the basics before he can get on the field. the physical talent is there, but he needs to learn to do the things that will keep him on the field.

I did! Buttfumble is better than Quinn IMO but he's a 3rd string QB so get a early draft pick also and call it a day.. Besides it would piss off Rex a little :)

If maximizing him is standing him up to cover tight ends then he was woefully over drafted. You don't take a player #3 overall just so he can drop back in coverage on tight ends....complete freakin waste.
You are right, but since we already have him we need to get the most out of him that we can.

What's up is that the FO took a nearly unique athlete suited for OLB and force fed him (figuratively and somewhat literally given the weight gain) the overloaded DE position, while what we have starting at OLB is jack sh**. It's almost comical, given how good this guy was playing in space at his natural weight and how consistently mediocre he is playing DE when all tangled up at the LOS, which is most of the time. I'd say that right now Terrence Fede could very well be a better DE than Dion Jordan. In a more creative defense we'd have two big, fast attack OLBs in Jordan and McCain with Jordan Tripp getting an even harder look at both OLB and ILB.

I like Fede as well but I think people are seeing a guy thats naturally bigger at the position. He reads well too. But its not like he is going to be a good pass rusher or anything. People have to temper this preseason stuff down and think about when the real deal hits. I would use Fede on GL and short yardage stuff. Otherwise, your going to see Shelby. Like I said a week ago. what side does Fede play on? Wake and Shelby's side. Dion is OV's backup and will be speed package deal again. If anyone noticed, they had Mccain playing DE on that side so when Jordan doing his time, who is backing OV?

More of this Dude. Wish you could convince Hickey/Philbin
