Is Jelani Jenkins a long term starter

I've been watching Jelani Jenkins play ball since he was a 17 year senior, and not only one of the top LB's in the nation, but a scholar athlete. Also watched him his entire career at Florida, and felt he left a year earlier then he should have because of his youth. He wasn't ready to make the jump physically nor mentally, and it took a year for him to get adjusted. Now that he has things figured out this kid is playing better then he has at any point in his career. He basically looks like a different player then I've seen him at the high school or college level. He's always been one of the best athletes on the field no question, but physicality has never been one of his strong suits. The play last week where the QB drops back, and the RB stays in to pass protect. Jenkins starts to blitz only to pull out, and cover the RB who tried to leak out tells you how much smarter, and instinctive he is playing. This kid is going to be a keeper.

Thanks for your insight. Nice read.

the future at LB is looking like Jenkins, Tripp and Misi. Wheeler and Ellerbe will most likely be gone next year.
We haven't seen much of Jordan Tripp yet but there is a decent chance he will be one of the starting LBs in the future. They are not rushing him and Wheeler is looking a lot better in the strong side role. Tripp can play all 3 LB positions but I don't know which role he is best suited to. We still have to see more of Koa Misi in the mike.

The guy is a great athlete growing into a great linebacker, IMO. He didn't have the mental aspect down pat, but that can be taught and that is improving while his athleticism is getting him to the ball and not failing when he gets there. He was a lucky acorn for Ireland, like Rishard Matthews on offense.

If Misi plays well in the middle the LB position shouldn't be a priority in the draft even with the departure of Wheeler and Ellerbe. Tripp has instincts and intelligence, he just needs a year of NFL weight training
