Is Reshad Jones a locker room cancer?

Regarding Sapp, very much indeed. I charted only the first half so far, but he was responsible for 4 completions where he either got caught out of position or simply didn't match up well against the Pats speed. The first one is on him, the second I would blame Nolan more... why put yourself at disavantage through scheme?

Regarding Jones... it's nice he can tackle, but if he's constantly out of position it's not necessarily the coaches' fault. We'd have to know the defensive scheme that was called before assigning blame. Overall I don't think it's wrong players call each other out, what kills me is that they go to the press for it - as little as they have, even.

Completely agree with you on Nolan. Scheme is only the vehicle to get the job done, you still need a driver. Right now, Mike Nolan isn't in control of his vehicle.

The 99 yard touchdown to Welker is a play that I've already broken down from an assignment standpoint. Reshad had man coverage on the tight end.... problem was, Nolan blitzed and didn't disguise it well at all. Brady kept the TE in to block, which coverted Jones' responsibility to help deep in a Cover-1.

He took a bad angle and tried to undercut the football... bad decision. But he was also inches away from knocking that ball away and saving Sapp's a** too... it just didn't happen. The throw by Brady was so good that there was no defense for it.... I don't care who was back there.

The coaches shouldn't have Reshad Jones in that position to begin with... he's not a free safety, which was my point. He needs to be shaded towards the strong side of offensive formations.

If you want to leave Jones with deep middle responsibility in a "sky" or inverted look, that's a different story. But he has no business being back there as the last line of defense in a Cover-1 look with a blitz on and man coverage by the corners across the board.... and especially not against a quarterback the caliber of Tom Brady.

I believe there's an unwritten rule in the NFL that states, any player that gives up a 99 yard touchdown to a slow receiver like Wes Welker is automatically cut on the spot. Better luck next time Benny Sapp...

Actually your close on the unwritten rule, it actually says if you get beat off the line, fall down while attempting to tackle the slow WR AND MAKE NO ATTEMPT TO GET UP....Your automatically cut on the spot. Sporano, watching the guy run past him offered more in the way of effort than Sapp did on the play, just by turning his head as he went by.

Reshad Jones has been terrible. There is no other way to put it. If Clemmons is healthy, he needs to start and the experiement with Reshad at FS needs to end. Let him start taking snaps from Bell if you want him on the field that bad . . . but the secondary just looks poor right now and Reshad Jones is a big reason for that. Terrible angles, no discipline, the guy gets sucked in on everything and does not have the makeup speed to recover. Clemmons is an upgrade, even if he gives us less of an opportunity to make a play . . . outside of being a solid tackler, I don't see Reshad Jones making anything happen at FS.

Hell I'd lean towards Culver at this point.

Bell is always a step slow, a tad late, inches away, almost there, nice try, close but no cigar, etc....

I like Bell, always have. I respect what he's accomplished and the player he became from being such a longshot to ever make it in the NFL. He's my type of player, but he'll never be better than he is... and he's in decline now.

I'd let Jones take over for him, but these guys wouldn't even consider it until the season is lost... even then, they'd have no reason to because at that point they're gone too..

Chris Clemons is irrelevant.... Miami needs to draft a legitimate big time player at the free safety position.

the scheme is trash...nolan keeps asking guys to do what they're not good at...i watched nolan carroll press andre johnson with no over the top help and ride him down the field pretty damn well and then the next like 5 snaps i see him in off man and getting used...same for the lbs solid when they can get their hands on a guy in the 5 yard zone but when we just let the te's off the los unimpeded we get used

mike nolans so overrated its not funny...

Too many whiffs in the draft.

Trading down for Odrick and Misi, when Earl Thomas is sitting in your face was down right stupid. Passing on Jimmy Graham for John Jerry was stupid. You trade 2 #2's for Marshall, fine, you have the slowest offense in the league last year and realize a year later its a problem. It's time to get rid of everybody if this ship isn't turned around fast. And lets not even mention the OLine.

You are right, Chris Clemmons isn't the answer either, but that Miami secondary needs some kind of stability back there, and Clemmons gave them that last season.

Nolan has been terrible. If it is indeed a sabatoge job by him, he is making himself look terrible in the process.

First off, what right does Carroll have saying “When something happens like that, you just sit back and think, ‘How do you have a lapse like that, when you go through it every day in practice?’” HELLO POT MEET KETTLE.

So now many players were upset about Jones calling out Sapp, yet here many players are calling out Jones..... HELLO POT MEET KETTLE

Kendall Langford, sure Jones mesed up on that TD. But let me ask you this..... Did you guys practice not getting pressure on the QB or not stopping the offense in short yardage situations too? If not, then the front 7 also let them get away with stuff.

Taylor just needs to stay quiet as well. Was he even relevant during this game. He had 1 sack.... But that's it. Though I could be wrong about him, I wasn't really looking for him..

Bell- I will not critiscize. Has been one of the most consistant best defensive players for this team for years.

This is just sad. Only 2 games into the season and our supposed Veterans are starting to call people out. Jones and young guys you can expect that happening but not from leaders of your team who are vets.

But then again, didn't Taylor help Porter with the mutiny against Cameron?

sapp was a scapegoat if you ask me...he's not a off man or zone nickle he has average at best quick acceleration and cod but he's a physical press you off the line in your face solid tackler who kept getting asked to play off and not have wes welker use him all over the field...sapps not great i know that but this scheme is trash...you got to play to your guys strengths and sapps strengths is not sitting underneath or playing off man and letting guys have a go any which way they want to...

get in somebodys damn grill like the jets do with their coverage players and throw off the timing of the qb...just letting them throw in rhythm all game long to wide open unimpeded players is garbage

Exacty... Jason Taylor is the locker room cancer and always has been. Every time Miami touches this guy everything turns to sh*t.

Everywhere Jason Taylor goes, that team immediately turns to sh*t. He leaves, things start looking up.... it never fails... you can set your watch by it.

3yrs we have been giving up big plays and watching TEs kill us! Then we have the post game finger pointing at insert random safety. Here is a thought Vontea, Corn Row Barbie, Bell, Clemons, Jones, Sapp, Wilson, and Culiver are all either average or trash! If they played half as well as the flapped their gums we wouldn't watch deep completion and tight ends killing us!

jason taylor guesses the snap count exactly right one time and now he thinks he should be heard...what a joke...i can't stand that guy...and yeah kdawg you're right...misis a damn bust...that dude can't sniff the qb...jack of many trades master of none

Clemons out is really hurting the secondary. The guy is just solid and almost never misses an assignment.

I don't think Jones called out Sapp, but the reference was that many Vets thought Sapp was the fall guy even though Jones made the mistake in coverage.

Hopefully Jones can get his head out of his @ss because he has a lot of ability, but blows way too many assignments.

and carroll needs to shut it also.he played like a girl in the pats game...reshad lit him up verbally for missing a call vs the no huddle and then just lollygagging back over while deion branch was uncovered

this is just the beginning of the infighting...these players see sparano is a dead man walking...hell they knew that when he was brought back so i don't get why you bring him back in the first place but this is just the tip of the iceberg as to how dysfunctional
this lockerroom is gonna get...

Girl was a play or two before Andre Johnson smoked him! Did you see Nancy Carroll bounce off Tate in the hole? Look like a bug hitting my windshield! We should have known this guy was soft when he let a Jets coach trip him and he did nothing!
