Is Saban the right choice?

From your post, you must not know Saban's full background by what he did.

I know his background and I'm worried. I have a feeling he will treat this like the college game and the fans will pay.

He treated the college game as if it were the NFL. thats the reason for his success. Hes going to treat the NFL as even bigger then itself.

errrrrrr...no.

niceguy99 isn't saying anything crazy, I'm not sure why he's getting hassled for it. He's just expressing his concern over the generally rough transition from college to professional coaching, that's all.

Hey Dolphins fans,
I just signed up for this site and ever since his hiring, I've been concerned with the hiring of Nick Saban and the decisions he has made. The guy hasn't coached in the NFL in who knows how long, and now we are giving him full responsibility? His last year in the NFL wasn't great, those Browns teams that he was the DC of weren't great, and overall, I feel he is overrated. He only had one great season at LSU and now BOOM, he is our coach. I'm not really impressed with the guy at all. I have a feeling that he might just be the next Spurrier, I just think he has been out of the game too long. Plus, I don't think he knows enough about offense and our biggest concern is offense. Our defense was fine before.

I'm just worried, I don't think Saban is the great thing that we are all expecting. I don't think he will finish his contract.

Duck.

Thank you! I don't understand why so many people think it's going to be so easy for Saban to make the switch to the NFL. He has coached college for such a long time, this is a completely different game people.

I think its because we all have faith in Saban to turn it around for us. Last season was something we dont want to experience again in a hurry. We have alot to look forward to this coming season and i dont think the rest of the guys on here are really hassling him, just trying to convince him Saban will do well thats all.

well hey, he does have a point. As of 'right now' he very well could be the next spurrier. I really doubt it, but its possible.

It's always possible, but to say that the teams in Cleveland were generally weak is not fair to Saban. He was the DC and the D improved a lot under him. Please read more as suggested, and then you should feel a bit better. He should be a very good coach. Also, if Linehan is not enough for you, look up an offensive line coach by the name of Hudson Houck. Try "Googling" for him with key words like San Diego, Miracle worker, Dallas, Superbowl, etc.

Ok OK too all phins fans Scott Linehan is a good OC . Its just that he had Daunte and Randy and they contributed a little to his success in Minny

I don't know about how Saban will do. I hope he does really well, but I am tired of all the Bellichick comparisons. The Pats' coach has won three of the last four SUPERBOWLS!!!!. I think Shula is the best all-time and not even he did that. I just don't think we should make comparisons until Saban proves himself. It is kind of like Forty-niner fans trying to compare Alex Smith with Dan Marino.
