Is Saban the right choice?

I think its because we all have faith in Saban to turn it around for us. Last season was something we dont want to experience again in a hurry. We have alot to look forward to this coming season and i dont think the rest of the guys on here are really hassling him, just trying to convince him Saban will do well thats all.

And we all are pretty sure that he should be an upgrade. I mean come on. I am not lying when I say I knew (like many people) that Wanny looked bad from day 1, and frankly, so did JJ with his superbowl guarantees within 3 years. He was more like Spurrier with his overconfidence than Saban is. Saban is too busy working to be blabbering about what he's going to do. Finally, less lip service should lead to better results around here.

My suggestion after reading most of this noob's posts so far is to not feed the troll. He's already on my ignore list. :)

this started by the guy who doesnt understand why we all like to make noise at home games. troll

I don't know about how Saban will do. I hope he does really well, but I am tired of all the Bellichick comparisons. The Pats' coach has won three of the last four SUPERBOWLS!!!!. I think Shula is the best all-time and not even he did that. I just don't think we should make comparisons until Saban proves himself. It is kind of like Forty-niner fans trying to compare Alex Smith with Dan Marino.

I think the comparisons are more with the similarities in their personalities and approaches and philosophies. The comparisons are bound to be made because the 2 of them are also close friends. Of course media enjoys hype and comparing to Bellicheck is good hype due to his success. But the media usually end up comparing their approaches and only ask the question, will it translate into the same success as Belli has enjoyed. That's not disrespectful to Bellicheck.

If Alex Smith has a similar throwing motion, or leadership/competitive reputation that Marino was known for, then it's fair to compare him I think. Nobody would say that he's as good yet. He will need to earn that. See the difference?

Good remedy, but I'm trying to educate the poor guy. I think he's just underinformed.

I do think Saban could be better than Wanny, he was just horrible, but I really liked what Bates had going on. I don't know if getting rid of him was the right move......

"Realistic" and "underinformed" (is that even a word?) are not the same thing.

I liked Bates too. But I don't think he would have been great long term. Often an interim coach has the fact that any change is good on their side. The team often picks it up when they get a fresh start, especially in a terrrible season. And we were under achieveing before Bates. It's not like he worked a miracle getting a pretty talented team to win a couple of games. I only regret that he is no longer our DC, because he was superb!

I don't think it is a real word. Just thought it was apt <--(That's real) so I made it up. Release 0.1.

Hey Dolphins fans,
I just signed up for this site and ever since his hiring, I've been concerned with the hiring of Nick Saban and the decisions he has made. The guy hasn't coached in the NFL in who knows how long, and now we are giving him full responsibility? His last year in the NFL wasn't great, those Browns teams that he was the DC of weren't great, and overall, I feel he is overrated. He only had one great season at LSU and now BOOM, he is our coach. I'm not really impressed with the guy at all. I have a feeling that he might just be the next Spurrier, I just think he has been out of the game too long. Plus, I don't think he knows enough about offense and our biggest concern is offense. Our defense was fine before.

I'm just worried, I don't think Saban is the great thing that we are all expecting. I don't think he will finish his contract.

Fear for your life after posting this. True or not your life is in danger...

Right, because if someone on buffalorange or billzone would post that Mularkey is another Greg Williams everyone would invite him into their house for a nice dinner.

WANNY...IS THAT YOU?

THATS your opinion and you are intitled to it, I think you will be proven wrong
and this guy is dedicated, proven winner in every organization he has touched.

try being positive and refocus that negative energy elsewhere....it will accomplish absolutely NOTHING

Hey Bills Ca. Im new here. Is his life really in danger because he had the audacity to suggest Nick Saban might not work out?

and LT DAN is trying to be nice to you......you are lucky!

But it's still a legitimate question. We don't know anything until some games are played. Will he be a very good coach? It looks like it, and all, well, most of us sure hope so.

It's similar to draft picks. Barring injuries, guys like Brown, Roth, Crowder, and even Daniels could and should be at least very serviceable players. But we're not sure yet. Ask the Chargers about Ryan Leaf.

BTW, I just read the whole "noise is bad" thing. That is ridiculous.
