Is the Scouting Deparment the problem?

Demaryius was the best receiver then. He was a monster. I listened here from the "draft" experts about the hips and route running.

but let's fast forward to last year. Ansah, Sheldon on the board, Patterson, Austin, and we trade up to 3 for Jordan.
Tools! they all need to go, every single one of them.

i like your after the fact style...remains to be seen how much in advance draft stuff we see from you that works out...but i know this "clown" will be watching...and looking forward to it

Is clown a racist comment? Corporate America could get mad!

I have no idea if the scouts are making bad recommendations of if they're good recommendations are being ignored to some degree. What I do know is that this organization excels at NOTHING. There is no single thing I can think of that one can point at and say "we do this really well."

There's no one on this board that has access to the amount of information on the players in the draft that any GM in the league has. So whether someone here can pick better players than Ireland or anyone else is irrelevant. Short of simply getting lucky, no one here should be able to outpick any NFL GM.

if you say so

if you say so

I do. You don't have films. You don't have access to their college coaches. You don't have transcripts. You don't have behavioral records. There's a ton of information that you have zero access to, so yes, I do say so.

you dont know what i have access to but you like to speculate and draw conclusions out of it...on some of that however you are correct...but evaluating tape doesn't require any of that...the off the field stuff yes that is usually the part you cannot verify

b/t you'd be surprised as to what gets leaked if you go looking...

its a combination of 3 things.

The scouting department missing on many occasions. The medical staff mis-diagnosing so often and finally, and most importantly the average drafting. this rests on Irelands head. To get very little from our complete draft class bar sturgis - and he was shaky at times, is so very very dissapointing. I have given the benefit of the doubt to ireland for 3 to 4 years now, but now, its time for him to go.

And that's kind of what I'm saying. You, any of us, aren't going to have access to what GMs have access to. We might be able to find out something about some individual players, but we're not going to have full reports and years worth of film on every guy that's going to get picked in the first 2 or 3 rounds. We don't have an organization gathering all that for us. So none of us should be able to outpick any NFL GM. Therefore, comparisons of any of our abilities to Ireland's in some sort of attempt to defend Ireland is disingenuous. Compare Ireland to his peers, not to us.

Our entire 2013 draft class flat out stinks. Either our Asst Coaches suck and can't develop these guys or these guys should never have been drafted because they're not NFL material. It's one or the other, crappy scouting/Ireland or crappy asst. coaches.

I've said this before. Prior to each draft the scouts gather with Ireland and grades are handed out to each player. The Draft board is then put together based on those grades. So..... The logical conclusion is either the scouts are horrible and their grades are totally off OR Ireland is going off the board and picking guys based in hunches. Regardless...... The whole crew of them need to go.

In 5 years, ireland has NEVER picked a player at ANY position who came in and made an immediate impact in his rookie season. That is not mediocrity it is FAILURE.

He seems to want players who never blossom until their first contract is up, so that he doesn't have to pay them a lot in their second contract. He is like a small-market baseball team... or the marlins.
