Is Vernon Carey Better Than Robert Gallery???

Exactly CK. The people rolling their eyes haven't done their research. Carey is definitely the best lineman taken in that draft as of today.

jesus christ how can you say that? he hasn't even played in a regular season game yet this year and only played 2 last year... gallery bounced around all last year but he played and at times played ok... chris snee of the giants started most of last year and is the projected starter this year... and i cant think of any more right now, haha but you calling carey the best lineman taken in that draft based on preseason play... thats crazy...

i thought in the second half gallery did ok, didn't see as much pressure come from the right side unless they blitzed... i saw up the gut and the left side have constant problems in the second half, but the right side did ok... first half i wasn't paying as much attention but i do remember pressure from that side a few times...

Id wait until Sunday to see how good Vernon does. But to answer your question, no way in hell is Vernon better

To early to say. Pre draft hype aside.

yeah all of oaklands line is playing like crap today. Pitiful showing, play calling is wierd, run on 3 and 13 makes no sense at all. And I would much rather have vernon right now than losman.

How about that sieve for a secondary. Does anybody know how to close on the ball?
I've never seen WR's get so open against 8 men in coverage (18 yd TD reception). On replay it's not like the Pats WR's were doing anything special. Simple curls and square ins. Brady looked sharp, but how could you not when there is no DB within 3-5 yds of your receiver.

you definatly need to see Carey play in the regular season before making that judgement. This is the perfect example of why you don't draft linemen high. It is nice to get a Jonathan Ogden or Orlando Pace or Tony Boselli, but I think linemen can be filled with mid rounds and developed later. Why the Raiders never went QB or WR I will never know.

They could of had Larry Fitzgerald, Phillip Rivers, Ben Roethlisberger, Sean Taylor, Kellen Winslow. At the time all those guys would have addressed a need and all of them would have been better choice than Gallery. Don't argue that Sean Taylor and Kellen are not looking good right now either just because they have odd cases.

We haven't seen enough from Vernon yet to suggest he's any Better than Gallery at this point, but if you actually watched the game last night, there's no way you could have come away impressed with what Gallery did.
Being hyped out of college, and being picked 2nd overall doesn't guarantee greatness in the NFL. Gallery got pancaked by a linebacker last night, and looked slow and overmatched.

they didn't have a choice. Gallery was gone by the time the fins picked. I'm sure Spielman would've taken Gallery if he was available by the time the fins pick.

Interesting.....

I havent seen enough tape of Gallery to make that call yet. However I think we are still 1 year away before making that statement.

Andrews, although playing Guard is Philly, might end up being their tackle next year. Andrews was also hurt all of last year so he pretty much is a rookie.

Personally, I think its too early to tell, but as of RIGHT NOW, its not laughable to say that Carey is the best tackle to come out of that draft. Carey did very well in preseason against some good RDEs.

Im hoping a year at RT will just increase Carey's confidence much more and next year he can make the move to LT. Jesus I cant believe I just typed positive remarks about Carey.

This begs the question, did Miami get it RIGHT? Trade a 4th round pick to make sure we get the best offensive tackle in the draft class?

Absolutely, positively NOT. We were CERTAIN to get Carey or Wilfork if we stayed where we were. Both filled an immediate need and both were a good value at our pick. We gave away a 4th rounder, when we almost surely would have still gotten Vernon where we sat.

Wilfork is a short fat guy. I think Vickerson and even Wright (if he matures) have more natural athleticism and have bigger upside (no pun intended). DT wasn't a glaring need in that draft.:)

are you serious? Wilfork has tons of athleticism for a guy weighting 330. thats one reason hes so damn good. Wright and Vickerson?

Gallery has been a massive disappointment. You draft a guy #4 overall to play LT, pay him a huge contract, and he ends up starting at RT in his SECOND year? That's what's know as a "reach" in the draft. It wasn't a reach on draft day, but it sure is one now.

first off he was drafted number 2, haha... secondly just cause another guy has a good camp and plays LT and you play right doesn't mean you suck... ahem, do we not have the same situation right now with vernon? haha... its vernons second year and hes starting at RT...

im not saying gallery is the best lineman in the league right now, but hes still just 1 game into his second season, dont appoint him as a bust yet because the tough NE D got a lot of pressure on collins...

I'm watching this game and Gallery is just not playing all that well...and for the second year in a row he is not the left tackle but rather the right tackle.

This begs the question, did Miami get it RIGHT?

New England is a great defense. Miami needs to play Sunday, don't grade us yet, we could easily stink the place up.
