It could always be worse (at least we aren't Lion fans)

I know its hard being a Dolphin fan but at least we aren't Lion fans. Just look at their situation. Whisenhunt turns them down to coach the Titans. :lol2:
All that talent is gonna be wasted on that team.
But the Lions have a better team than we do. Give them a good coach and there is no comparison.

Better RB's
Better WR's
Better Qb
Better DT's
Better Oline
Better Defense (scoring allowed)
Better Offense

I wish we were the Lions!

It's worse cause they're strongly considering Jim Caldwell. Jim Caldwell is an awful, awful coach.

Munchak isn't a bad coach. He was handed a raw deal in Tennessee. He overachieved there with what he had to work with.

You saw him finally get competent QB play this year and that team was ROLLING. Then Locker went down. The rest is history.

That's true. I suppose he did overachieve. What coaching tree did he fall from, anyway?

The obvious assumption with Whis is that he decided he'd rather roll the dice on Locker + drafted QB than try to fix Matt Stafford. Now, that may not be true at all, but that's got to hurt.

You take the Detroit job, you know you're getting five years regardless of how lousy you are.
I'd take that job. Manage your people.

touche dlockz but all I'm trying to say is that Detroit is in a very bad situation right now. I think we'll turn it around. Them?...not so much.

I don't know Detroit does have a few elite players. I don't see how our position is any more attractive than thiers.

Don't kid yourselves. The Lions have far more talent than the Dolphins. The problem was poor coaching. Schwartz allowed that team to function with no discipline and Scott Linehan refused to get control of Stafford who is a loose cannon. If they're smart they go with Munchak and hope he can put together a solid staff. The OC hire there is going to be critical. Not sold on Stafford but if they can eliminate some of his stupid mistakes from a lack of discipline, they will be fine.

It's funny how some around here think that having to work with Philbin - at least initially, would be a deterrent for attractive GM candidates but not once in this thread did anyone speculate that working with a well-ensconced Martin Mayhew might well have been and continue to be a deterrent for desirable HCs. Go figure :idk:

I think The Whiz took the Tennessee job because he can step in and go, where the Detroit job requires a culture change to get them over the top. Nobody wants to change the culture of a team unless you can turn over the roster, and Detroit inst willing to do that. The Detroit job is set up to fail imo.

Im not sure how one would come to the rationalization that it is better being a Dolphins fan than a Lions fan. The Lions are always in contention for the NFC North and do have much, much more talent than Miami. Yes, the problem with that team was coaching 100%. Put a coach in there that instills disciple and the Lions are a playoff team every year.
