If we're in that position Tannehill and/or Moore would certainly be at the top of the list for me. Pouncey would be second on the list. Then maybe Hartline/Gibson. I probably wouldn't trade anybody else.

IF we are in that position, I have to consider Delmas, Moreno, Moore, and Colledge, who are all gone next year. I also have to consider Starks, Finnegen, Gibson, and maybe even Wallace and Grimes. This may sound crazy to some but, if we are going nowhere soon, they are not going to be there if and when we are ready to contend. JMO

There will be a roster purge of most of those aging vets if we fail miserable this year.

That's my thought. If so, why not try to get some picks back before the deadline when there will be many injuries for playoff contenders.

Don't think Delmas or Colledge have any trade value since they are gone next year as you point out. Moore maybe if a possible playoff team has an injury and think Moore could hold it together. Starks didn't seem to have much a market this year probably because of his age. Agree, Gibson would be a candidate with Landry on the roster, not sure if Wallace or Grimes contracts are shall we say tradeable but you know that stuff better than me. I do get the point that they won't be around for another whole rebuild again though nor will Wake unfortunately.

At what point do you declare we go that direction though? That signals the team is full on quitting. That is even worse for business than what's taking place.

His policy is exactly the same as it's always been but the media attention this week has just made him emphasize it.

Philbin is bad but this type of comment is over the top.

How is saying Philbin is the worst coach in the NFL "over the top"?? Tell me which coach is worse than Philbin? Have you seen the Dolphins first half performances over the last 11 games? Horrible. They've trailed at the half for 5 consecutive games. They are a poorly prepared team.

The only coach I can think of who even comes close to Philbin on the "terrible" scale is Jason Garrett. Seriously.

Dennis Allen is worse, and you're most likely going to see why tomorrow.

It worries me a lot that Tannehill made such a big deal of this. His confidence seems forced, because if he was truly confident in his abilities, than this wouldn't have been a "challenging" week. And considering his play lately, he should not be angry with his coach for leaving some uncertainty about his starting job. Bottom line, Tannehill has not earned the right to be the unquestioned starter through his play.

And this is not a defense of Philbin. Philbin is the worst coach in the NFL.

Agreed.
Tannehill's best stance he can take is to keep his mouth shut and simply perform better on Sundays.
Make Philbin and the legion of doubters look foolish for thinking of benching him, not with words, but with on the field performance.

In the end he's just being bluntly honest. It distracted him, and so he said it distracted him. Problem is, he's creating further distraction for the team by saying that.
Both Philbin and Tannehill are in job-keep mode, so tensions must be high. I was originally on Philbin's side of this earlier this week, thinking that if it motivates Tannehill, the ends justify the means, but now I'm not so sure.
He's toying with trust in his team, and that's not good for motivation as a group trying to win together. Not to mention, they're tied at the hip anyways, so no one is going to win without the other.

Yeah, we would have to be totally blown away by an offer for Wallace or Grimes this year. Next year is different. Not likely at all.

IMO, it would be IF we get to 1-5 or, possibly 2-4. Anything else and we are in it for the year.

Agree at 1-5 they consider it, especailly Moore if there is an interested team out there at that time. 2-4 my guess is they still retain hope for the year.

As bad as the last two weeks were, I think we have a legit shot to be 3-2. The question is whether or not Joe Philbin can somehow find a way to keep momentum rolling for once in his tenure.

Yeah, that's the questionable point, with Jax next before the trade deadline. IF 2-4 turns into 2-5 with Jax, I think the same happens.

But if we start winning games, Philbin will be the greatest coach and motivator in the NFL. :tubes:

We could debate ad nauseam how it was Philbin's temperament allegedly held the team together last season.

Though, the game against Tampa on MNF last yr where I started to grow tired of the Felix Unger act.

Bottom line: I was all for having a smart & organized coach when Joe was hired. Philbin could be the smartest & more prepared person on the history of EVER but like many Phins HC's since Shula can't/won't adapt to save their lives or jobs.
