Its obvious-This is a rebuilding team

Coaches dont like to talk about it.GMs dont like to talk about it.Some fans dont like to talk about it.But its obvious to me.This is a rebuilding team.

At one time or other we had on the field on offense 9 players who were not on this team a year ago.In fact the starting backfield at one time had AJ ,Gordon and Eastlick none of whom had ever played together in a game before.Penalties and miscues should be expected.

And like most rebuilding teams success will not happen overnight.Particularly because the existing org.has dealt a lot of future picks in an effort to win now and plug up holes.It may take a couple of years to become a playoff contender again.

But its also obvious to me that we have some talent and youth in that offense.

AJ may not be the next Marino but I think he has what it takes to get the job done.We have two talented WRs ,CC and Booker,A very good TE.The OL is very young and will take time to gell.The running game will get better once the OL improves.

Of course some of you will argue that by the time our offense improves our defense will be in decline.That may be the case for a couple of players but there will be replacements.

The first few games may not be pretty but dont you think they will get better as the season progresses.?

I will see it as obvious in week 8. Right now, I still have hope that it isn't.

I think if we improve a little this month, we can take a 10-6 season, and made the wild card.... that´s real hard to do, but our D# shows the power today... the only mistake (Brown´s rush 52 yards) is result of poorly ofense in 1st half ....

With AJ now as our starter we lean towards a rebuilding team, which is wierd b/c at 21 years old I 've never been through one. But the thing that holds me back from agreeing is that our defense is returning what, 80% of their starters? And they are Pro Bowl starters. Jacksonville, that was a rebuilding team last year.

You didn't go through the 1996 season? That was JJ's first year, and it was a rebuilding year. The defense was completely overhauled that year, and Miami had an astronomical roster turnover from the previous year.

I agree, for the offense anyway. It's going to take some time for these guys to work togther as a team. But when they do, I think they can get the job done, but the Oline will HAVE to be effective. Hopefully Spielman's comparison to Green Bay's line will come to fruition. I really hope we get to see Chambers, Boston, Booker, McMicheal, Feeley, Konrad and Gordon all on the same field. (But I get the feeling that if Wanne is still there next year they'll still find a way to lose :shakeno: )

Rebuilding ...

At the very least a year in transition.

How fast this team gets insync , and how much developing talent actually does develop will greatly factor whether this will be the year of gained experience or to be in playoff contention.

There is reason to expect some signifigant upside out of a fair portion of our starters and depth.

There will be growing pains though , as we saw today . However it is MOST definately time to let A.J. Feeley take hold of this offense . Miami needs to see what he can do and how much he will ( hopefully ) improve by the end of the year.

It could be fun to watch , but there definately will be growing pains this year.

I agree that the offense is in a rebuilding phase, The problem is this defense is on borrowed time, It will be damn near impossible to keep this defense together for a couple more years. So buy the time you get the offense to gel you start rebuilding your defense.

You're right.

But we had no choice to do it - it was out of pure necessity.

Our roster is much more solid than was on the 1996 roster -
so even if rebuilding - there is always a shot....

Finatic, I am with you brother. I have been saying it all offseason, even before we lost Ricky. Of course I was called a Bills fan and every other name in the book. Anytime you rebuild your offensive line you are in rebuilding mode.

I totally disagree that this is a rebuilding year. Our D is solid, we still have the same WR in Chambers, same TE's, same punter, kicker, FB, so I am not sure what your definition of rebuilding is but it is not the same as mine.

as for rebuilding...No I dont think so...we didnt come of a 3-13 season...
we're 10-6.. a solid year..I do believe the first time a team that had a dbl digit year not to make the playoffs...We're tryingto "tweak" this team.. throught the various disappointments we've had...
If we still play like we did yesterday in week 4.. i'll think about rebuilding.
