It's time for rookies to sign!

I'm getting kinda worried about Brown man... I hope he signs...
 
The reason why the rookie signings are few and far between is the fact that the owners do not want to pay the money out before they have to. Look at it this way, wouldn't you want to keep a $10M signing bonus in your bank and continue to draw interest on it til the last possible second. What I don't understand is why they don't negotiate the contracts sooner but pay the money when they report for training camp.
 
I never thought about that mfins. I dont like the way rookies get payed. Some great players get stuck with bad contracts who prove themselves, while 1st rounders will get a lot of money for their accomplishments in previous years. They should make up a system where rookies automatically get signed for 1 year at different rates that correspond with the round they were drafted in, and there bonus should correspond too, like 75% for 1st rounders 50% for second rounders and so on. That garuntees them some money and gets them a new contract based on their NFL accomplishments the next season. IDK i just dont like how an unproven Alex Smith who probably will be equal to feeley this year because of lack of experiance will get payed A LOT more.
 
Brown will be in around the first of August. He won't sign until Alex Smith signs, Smith's agent always goes right to the wire on rookie signings, and San Francisco's camp opens four days after Miami's.

I'm addressing a couple posts with this one message.

1. Everyone risks life and limb every day. You think the NFL has a high fatality rate?

2. If you think they're overpaid, yet some of them hold out, hoping to squeeze out a few more dollars to be even more overpaid, you wouldn't call that greedy?
