It's Tuesday.

Several recent Super Bowl winners were mediocre for 13 or 14 weeks and figured it out to close the show. It is week 3 of the season, let's root for our guys to figure it out.

Oh... is that what we're going to do? Because as I recall, last year we were mediocre through 13 or 14 weeks, and in 2012 we were mediocre through 13 or 14 weeks, and in 2011 we were mediocre through 13 or 14 weeks, and in 2010 we were mediocre through 13 or 14 weeks, and in 2009 we were mediocre through 13 or 14 weeks, and I don't recall us winning Super Bowls in any of those years.

Everyone here that says they're a Dolphins fan roots for the team to win, but rooting for a team doesn't come with a prerequisite that we be blind, deaf, and mute to the problems they have. The Dolphins aren't winning a Super Bowl this year.

31 teams aren't winning the Super Bowl this year. I don't recall saying that the Dolphins were going to win it, my point was that it is week 3 of a very long season and there are instances where mediocre teams figure it out and make that special run. Before the season started, did you expect the Dolphins to win the big one? Probably not. I have been watching NFL football too long to let my expectations peak and plummet from week to week.

No, you didn't say the Dolphins were going to win it. What you did was try to make the mediocrity in which this team has been embedded into something positive. Being mediocre isn't a positive thing no matter how you try to spin it. You're entitled to cheer on mediocrity all you like and pretend it's the precursor to a "special run," but many of us recognize it for what it actually is: the sign of a poorly led franchise.

No, I haven't expected the Dolphins to in the big one in many years. There's a good reason for that. The Dolphins haven't shown any great improvement in many years. My expectations of this team rarely peak and plummet. For the past five years I've expected them to be mediocre based on leadership and personnel ...and they have been. I'll be very happy if that changes but I'm not pulling out pom-poms every September and pretending we're there when we're clearly not.

Giants and Ravens off the top of my head.

Neither of those teams have been mediocre for 15 years and both have quarterbacks that are better than RT. The Giants have won two Super Bowls in the last 7 years. I'd love for the Dolphins to be that mediocre.

Step back from the ledge, time to move past the Chiefs game and start paying attention to the Raiders game. The last 2 weeks were awful, but the bigger picture tells us that 2-2 at the BYE is very likely. If we lose the Raiders game, obviously the season is over, but as bad as we've looked the last 2 games, I just don't see that happening. Week 6 probably sees the return of Moreno and Pouncey which would obviously be huge for our putrid offense. Let's just pray that between now and the end of the BYE week that Tannehill and Philbin figure it out, at least partially.

Stupid me, but I still have hope for this team.

Lets ride this quote all the way to 6-10, 7-9, 7-9, 8-8.... Like we do every single season. I don't need to be on a ledge to know this is sinking ship. This team was better last year. I'm sticking more now than ever with my 6-10 offseason prediction, however I do see 4-12 attainable.

Fans are fans in all different ways, there is no "correct" way to be a fan. I am not the type to say "fire this guy, fire that guy" after every loss. I am of the opinion that when a team has it's back against the ropes is when it needs the most support. Conversely, I don't judge any fan who is that guy, and there are a lot of them that post here.

You're not pulling out your pom poms, but it seems as though you're pulling the plug in September.

Maybe not, but Coughlin was on his last leg during both of his title runs, so things weren't necessarily peaches and cream either.

I'll take that bet, name your price.
