Jackson's Sports Buzz cap- Dolphins financial issues

Each time I look at Wheeler's contract I get sick. Such a bad, bad deal for Miami. I cannot believe he got those guarantees and to that amount.
 
I still think this team should sign another veteran guard (or two) and RB before the draft.

They can say there is not quality out there, but there are upgrades compared to who is on the roster.

With that said, they can still be patient and I have no issue and actually support that. However, if they think the work is done in FA, they are crazy.

wallace (9.6m), wheeler (4.2m) and ellerbe (4.2m) will have a combined dead cap hit of 18m next year when they're cut. there goes all that extra cap space. we are likely done doing much else in FA.
 
I don't see the concern- those numbers (regardless of players) are extremely manageable.

Hartline is the most unappreciated player on this team. The least knowledgeable fans just can't seem to grasp his value to the team. All they are interested in are 40 yd dash times. They don't seem to understand the concept of intelligent players who can understand coverages, run good routes and pretty much do whatever the coaching staff asks of them.
His contract is about average for a starting WR and he has back to back 1000 yd seasons.

That's if they are let go after the 2015 season. Those cap hits would apply to the 2016 season. Since we haven't even started the 2014 season, I'm not going to spend a lot of time worrying about the cap 3 years from now.

I'm guessing at this point they are content and will wait until after the draft! I personally don't like it and like you would prefer at least 1 more Oline signing. We talked about not half-butting the O/L repair effort. Getting the bare minimum and calling the job done.
 
This isn't an issue...

Why does the team need to have a significant amount of cap space every year? 15 million should be more then enough to address any potential needs this team has or help resign player they may want to resign. What we should want is for some of the draft picks to pan out....Jamar Taylor, Dion Jordan, and who ever they draft this year. That is how they are going to break out of the land of mediocrity not going balls to the wall every year with 30 million in cap space signing guy other teams have developed.

Restructure Wallace. Cut Wheeler post June 1 designation. Cut Moore and sign a veteran back up or go young behind RT.

Lots of things they can do still.

I feel pretty good about where we are financially this year and next year, and beyond. We have the flexibility to do as we choose, and we can make decisions bases on need rather than based on cap space. We also wont need to cut anyone if we need to sign a vet in training camp or in mid-season.
