Jackson's Sports Buzz cap- Dolphins financial issues

Its pretty safe to say that Wheeler may not be back after this season, and Finegan wont be either. Unless they both step up considerably. Either way, its a win win.

If Reshad Jones plays the way he did last year, he will be cut or restructured..........since he was clearly overpaid last year.

Hopefully, Dion Jordan steps into his role and we can trade Wake while he is still worth something.

That would all give us plenty of space to resign Pouncey, Odrick, and Clay. I dont see these guys costing us more than 15mil/year total.

I feel pretty good about where we are financially this year and next year, and beyond. We have the flexibility to do as we choose, and we can make decisions bases on need rather than based on cap space. We also wont need to cut anyone if we need to sign a vet in training camp or in mid-season.

Exactly, I think Jackson is trying to explain to the masses why the Fins aren't using all of the rolled over cap they have this year, instead of signing every possible free agent they are looking to the future. Rolling over the cap only helps for one year. After it's spent you still have to be below the cap the subsequent years. I don't get why this is so hard for people to understand.

How in any logical world is Reshad Jones getting 7.8 Mil and Ellerbe getting over 9 mil.

I would be giving Reshad Jones 3 mil max and Ellerbe 5 mil max.

I think their contracts are backloaded; The first couple of years are low numbers and it spikes up after that. So if i had to guess these guys' contracts average out to near what you are ballparking at over the duration of the deal. Ellerbee is 35 mill over 5, but im not sure what that guaranteed number is.

Can we give props to Wheeler's agent? He got a huge pay day for his client and protected him by structuring the deal that basically forces the fins to keep him on the roster. Wheeler owes that guy and Jeff Ireland big time
