Jaguars sign Chad Henne to push Blaine Gabbert

Unless you had access to down field footage, then you had access to nothing. Major Network cameras don't show what is really going on. Most people just follow the football anyway...

Shh. They're "analyzing film", don't you see?

BTW, what are you going to do with your name now, man? :s

LOL at the Henne lovers ... they'll find his failure is between his ears & he'll have the exact same problems everywhere he goes. Just the same as all failed QBs.

Don't get how folks watch so much football, read all over the net, blog ... & somehow develop theories that defy football sense. Hoowee!!

We are all laughing now but let's wait until 2012 is underway to judge his performance in a new environment and scheme. We've had so many QBs here, I'm starting to think its our franchise that screws up QBs and not the other way around. I mean we've had like 16 different QBs now and haven't found one that is even semi-decent and worth keeping?

Doesn't explain why Chad was brutually ourperformed by Matt Moore, who as a backup with little camp to get ready did things in both preseason and the regular season that Henne could only dream of. Moore had 3 three TD games in 12 starts where Henne had 0 his entire Dolphins career, Moore had 6 wins in 12 starts while Henne had only 3 in his last 12 and had an overall starting record of 13-18 overall. Of our last 3 QB's who started more than 1 game, Henne is the only with an overall losing record here and his rating at 75 was far lower than Moore's 87 (and wherever Pennington's ended up).

Really seems like Henne was the only one who had a problem, and I think he brought down the staff and regime as much as the other.

Some of you can't forget Henne's lasers but apparently can forget all the times Henne had a chance to win a game and couldn't, all the times one more score would have put the game away and he failed and the other team came back, and all the times he choked and threw INT's that completely turned games around. He'll stay around in this league because he can throw a pretty pass every now and then, which sadly some QB's like Gabbert are utterly incapable of, but he wasn't a victim of anything in Miami but himself.

This! x1,000,000

thank you, sir!

My POV

I've been one of the last diehard Henne supporters until he went down, always believing that he got a raw deal from our brainiacs including Henning between that 3 second clock to the momenum killing WC substitutions to not trusting him to make plays to the OC calls that were so predictable the defenders were LTAO. I was gratified seeing Chad take the initiative last offseason to conduct workouts and happy to see he developed more mobility and essentially became more effective as a result.

However, when he went down, the insertion of "Double-M" was a real eye-opener for me. I've observed both from the stands as well as on the HDTV. Henne would slap 5 and then huddle with the OC and study film. Moore was very demonstrative in his body language and actions: he'd be slapping 5 enthusiastically and going down the sidelines giving attaboys to the OL and other players. From that standpoint, it was obvious which one had that "it" ingredient necessary to earn confidence of his teammates and display the kind of confident leadership himself expected of a field general.

More than that, it became very obvious that Moore could process information a helluva lot fast than could Henne. Henne is not dumb like a VY or Dullpecker, but his synapses just didn't fire off fast enough to assess and then make alternative decisions. That's why he locked on receivers where Moore rarely did and in hindsight, probably the reason why Henning saddled him with that 3 second clock. As a result, once Chad demonstrated some mobility out of the pocket, he became more effective since it enabled him to buy time and see the field at his own mental speed. This is not unlike Culpepper who used his mobility to give Moss time to get free and then without it, forced to pocket pass, was pedestrian at best.

Another reason I was pulling for Chad was on account of all the BS he quietly put up with from the fans, especially with the Orton chants (which to me was a joke cause despite his shortcomings I'd still take Henne over Orton, or Sanchez for that matter).. and how he soldiered on without any inflammatory media-worthy quotes for them to fixate on.. ditto when Marshall berated him on the field. He put up with a lot of **** and an awful OL too.

I wish Henne much success, but whether Moore pans out or not, in the past for bad teams he more often than not outperformed their records when he was under center. He has uplifted bad teams where Henne has risen or fallen to the prevailing water level. Ain't no comparison or IMO reasons to wistfully look back.

I have watched & followed Pro football for 30+ years and Henne was given more time to develop than any...thats right ANY QB I have ever witnessed. If he had played like he did here for any other franchise the fans would have turned on him much sooner than the 4 year "He is almost there" development period we afforded him. Think about it...less than 1/3 of games he started ended well or without picks at the worse possible time.

I still say Ross was on the guys side and really wanted him to suceed but ultimately Henne proved he could not get it done and even the owner could not save him.

I find it insane that people stillll think that chad henne wasn't given enough of an opportunity.

Henne turned the football over in 25 of the 36 games he played... almost 25 straight games. Only a single game here and there prevented it from being 25 straight. With a majority of those being multiple 2 and 3 interception performances.

He only had 9 games in his entire career that he didn't throw an interception, and several of those he didn't throw any TD's either.

You just can't do that.

The best thing that Henne ever 'flashed' was the ability to be a stopgap starter and a journeyman capable of pushing young, undeveloped QB's for a starting job in the NFL. Which is exactly where he's at in his career now.

Henne is the antithesis of Blaine Gabbert in that he'll hang tough in the pocket and stare down the barrell in order to allow plays to develope. The Jags need a journeyman to show the skiddish flop from the Big-12 how to do that... and in turn gain the respect of the huddle in order to lead. Without that single element, the rest doesn't matter.

Henne will take Gabberts job without question. I get that he is not liked by many hear but the fact is still that he is an upgrade over him.

I agree, I think Chad got the short end of the stick here and it is a shame that his season was cut short last year.

a shame because we could have gone 0-16 had he stayed healthy and missing out on Andrew Luck?

This is as terrible as seeing "Matt Moore signed to push Chad Henne."

at least he's someone else's suckage now...

This. Remember what the Moore-lovers were saying last year about Moore? I bet they were also Henne-lovers.

And this is why I don't trust you on anything, because you just blow with the wind. Kinda like Mr. Ross does.

So what, the only thing he'll do is make a 2-14 team a 6-10 team. Big deal.

Well at least since you've been publicly spanked for calling names, you've become more civil in your delusions.

Oh and you not trusting me? I'll lose about as much sleep over that as Bernie Madoff not trusting me :idk:
