Of course they have question marks, they however have already been drafted and paid. Thus I'm not investing new draft capital in these players, consider it a sunk cost factor.

Make no mistake ask Albert Wilson how his opt out works for him this season.
Working well it seems.

Based on what, the team signing FA's and drafting a WR #6 overall who have similar if not superior skill sets?

Or is it, he actually looks like a guy in camp who knows he is fighting for a roster slot on this team because of the above. Make no mistake, his opt out had consequences whether his play, or other players injuries or mixture of both mitigate this is still unfolding.

I don't see FA signings and the draft as any sort of consequence. So please, what exactly are these mysterious consequences?

Interesting, if your employer decides to hire multiple people and makes significant investments (cash and draft) in them (and they fill the exact same role as you do), you would not see this as a significant consequence in the near/midterm?

If you honestly believe Wilson is or was in the long term plans of the organization when these players were brought in....well, most would consider it at a minimum naïve on your part. Whether he can outplay Will Fuller enough to justify staying on the team may be interesting in the short term, but make no mistake his play on the field will not effect Waddle (his replacement).

Most would consider this the not-so "mysterious consequences" of an opt out.

So something that happens every single year is suddenly a consequence of opting out?

If there was any true consequence of him opting out, he would be gone already. Enough said.

Yes, we spend the #6 pick overall and sign a superior player for the same position, what did you expect them to do, waive him outright ? Besides the PR and union issues there no logic in wasting some remaining value, but he is a NOW tertiary asset at the slot position.

That is called a consequence...would a dictionary definition or a phonetic spelling help further?

No you're right. No way we draft Waddle if Wilson didn't opt out last year. :bnkr:

I think drafting Waddle and signing Fuller might have had less to do with whether a receiver opted out than whether the team thought the WR position would somehow be solidified regardless of the status of a guy who has never topped 43 catches, 4 TDs, or 554 yards in 6 seasons. If your reason for not drafting a player in the top ten has something to do with a guy with those numbers, you're doing it wrong.
