Sorry, but this was a friggin reach and a pure NEED pick. Hickey wussed out and went Best RT available, not BPA or an impact player. He plugged a hole, and that doesnt change anything in the division standings or get you into the playoffs. Playmakers that change the game, impact the opposing team, makes them game plan for you ...that impacts your chance of making the friggin PLAYOFFS....which is what this is supposed to be about isnt it?

Hickey took the safe pick, didnt go for greatness.

Lets see if this is a pattern today and tomorrow.

Im disappointed but not shocked.

Revealing thread.

We drafted a player of huge need....what an idiot gm.

I don't think this James pick defines the type of person Hickey is at all.

I just think he got caught in a spot where he didn't want to risk losing a guy who would be a great fit for his offensive line and pulled the trigger. Assumption that we trade down and still get him is subjective.

And after dumping money and picks into this oline during the Jeff Ireland era, if this one pick fixes the RT position, it will have been more than justified.

I am all in favor for going for "greatness" in the draft and love the BPA philosophy . . . but with everything that happened with this oline . . . I could easily see Miami putting a premium on high character fits at RT and wanting to finally address this position so it doesn't become an issue like it has been for the last 5 years.

Ryan Tannehill got sacked 58 times, I'm sure he loves this pick.

This site would be so much better if posters could conceptually speak/think. Not once in the body of the thread does it mention what the title states which is Cam Wake, Mario Williams, Chandler Jones or Ninkovich, Coples or Pace.

Can't take you seriously. I'm starting to think your a troll.

Here is a number for you 58! That is what Hickey understood. This is what Philbin understood. This is what everyone in the division understood. Sadly, this is not what you understand.

ATL despite having a PB QB, PB/HOF TE, PB WRs and a PB RB....went 4-12. And Ryan was sacked 44 times. What did they do? Got them some corn fed. Why? Because you can't win in this league without a offensive line that sucks. Well guess what, MIA had the worst unit in the NFL last year. And you still beat the drum of getting play makers. MIA has play makers, they just need the ability to use them. And football 101 says, protect your QB. Well this is what is being addressed.

Also, your topic thread and the post have NOTHING to do with each other.

OL wins the games over playmakers. Watch all of the games that came down to the wire last year. How many of those games did we lose because we couldnt make a 4th quarter drive because of sacks to end the game.

Who would you have taken?

One of the CBs that we're available? Do you remember that last year we spent a second and third round pick on CB? We went best player available on the Jamar Taylor pick and he didn't play.

I understand the argument for Lee, but the fact is that you can't always go BPA. We were just a terrible at RT last year as we were at LT. Tyson Clabo got abused repeatedly!

I'm happy with the pick and excited for the second day. Lots of talent still out there. Especially at WR!

If a plug and play RT, the best that was left won't block 'em, who the hell will? You seem to be suggesting that we should just concede this reality, install a toll turnstyle instead of a player to at least salvage some financialgain out of all of this and just proudly go for the QB modern day sack record, eh?

This pick should not suprise many.

He basically told you this guy was our guy if Martin is not there.

first round grade. thats what the man told everyone. why no cringing then? werent you scared he would take him then?
