How is it that the negative coverage and attitude towards this team actually increased after Ireland was fired? Unreal
Maybe they lost their most trusted "source" and now feel like they are alienated from the only NFL franchise in town. At this point, they probably have as many "sources" inside the organization as ESPN. They may actually have to do some real journalism now. Seems as though they are lashing out because their gravy train got kicked out of town.
With no one left to give them scoops, they seem to be fabricating stories to leverage themselves back in the door. "Not true? Then tell us your side of the story."
I remember one of the Dallas journalists talking about SMU during "Pony Excess". Basically, the worst thing that can happen to any sports team in a town full of news sources is to air their laundry in public.
The press can always try the nuclear approach when they feel they've been shut out of a sports organization. It can make life miserable for an organization when the local media has turned on them.
I believe Hayden described this correctly as the Phins taking the "bunker mentality". I believe Saban tried this and eventually lost the war.
Seems as though the local media is laying seige to Sun Life Stadium.
