Jason Taylor and Zach Thomas wanted to go to winning teams........

addition by subtraction. 2 good but overrated, selfish players.
WOW, calling ZT overrated and selfish is an absolute joke. If anything he was underrated(really never mentioned with the great LBers of his era, though his tackles were usually among the leagues best, and he was always around the ball). Either way, calling someone overrate is usually pretty subjective, so I'll give you that.

Selfish? LMAO. The guy bled for his team. Suffered concussions and multiple other injuries, and refused to sit when he could go. Injured early and often, the guy gave his body to the team he played for. I REALLY don't understand the selfish comment.

As far as JT, yeah the garbage he pulled last offseason was a joke, and I'm wondering if his conditioning hasn't directly suffered because of it. He was never known to be injury prone before this year, in fact I don't believe he missed more than 2-3 games during his tenure.

JT isn't doing much of anything in Washington this year so whether he would've been productive in Miami, no one will know.

ZT seems to be having a decent year. I can only go by stats b/c I haven't seen him play a down.

Coincidence? Purely

I don't think it is a coincidence. They weren't winning plauers, they were guys who wanted to fill the stat sheet. They were leaders of defenses that never played well in big games and always talked a big game. Talent wise they are top notch but you need more than talent to win in this league.

Would you have liked them on the Jets?

Overrated by dolphin fans. Most dolphin fans put Zach in the Ray Lewis category when he wasn't close. Most dolpihn fans tink he's a HOFer when he's not. these 2 players were leaders of some of the worst big game D's the NFL has ever seen. They aren't winning players.

That's a tough question. Both were great when the games didn't matter, you do need some of those guys but I wouldn't wnat those guys as the leaders of my D. leaders need to step up in big games not shrink which is what those guys did. Taylor doesn't even have a postseason sack.

Zach was great in his era..., yes he wore down by seasons end... and so did JT by the way... No ZT is not Ray Lewis...

Peyton Mannning, Belichek have both been quoted about how they game planned around Zach beacuse of his knack for the game..., and Belichek attempted to sign him although he is old and too small to play ILB...

ZT snubbed the pats which was great... :kick:

Why can't you allow FINS fan to glory (on their fan site) about a very fine player..., is it because you are still crying over that Gholsten pick or is it because your salary-stricken team is fading fast...

I would go as far as to say that I dont think we would have a winning record with JT still on the team. Ever since they didn't make Jim Bates the coach after Wanny, he had a chip on his shoulder about ever coach we got. The guy ended up being a coach killer and leading the locker room against our coach's IMO. The guy is a great talent, probably could have went down as one of the best DE's to play, but Hollywood got in his way, and now he'll be able to prusue that career and not worry about what he could have done in football.

That JT did... ZT did not lead a mutiny...

"Salary-stricken" team? Our cap is in fine shape. We are set up for a nice run, this isn't a 1 year thing(depending upon who we get to play QB and the QB isn't the reason we are in 1st).

This thread was started by dolphin fans I just chimed in. They were both good to really players but neither was great.

I'm not going to lie. I hate most Dolphins fans because of how fickle they can be. Some people can switch from liking a player to hating a player in a second. Thats weak stuff.

Salary is fine this year.... how's about the future...

These two good to great players... HOF? Well I doubt either of us vote...

Zach is right there with other players of his era...

They were both good players, and horrible team leaders. We were not winning with them, and are without them. I'm not missing either of them.

Jason was a horrible team leader, but I certanly cannot say the same about Zach Thomas. Zach Thomas was a positive influence in the lockeroom and didn't require insane amounts of @ss kissing from players, coaches, and front office people like JT did.

Besides Ray Lewis, name 1 MLB from 95-2005 that was better than Zach Thomas? And yeah, I compared their stats earlier in this thread. Stats don't lie. ZT doesn't run his mouth like Ray or do silly little dances before each game. ZT doesn't get the same hype because ZT doesn't play to the media like Lewis. And he never slit anyone's throat.
To say Zach is overrated is being ignorant of the facts.
But hey, what's a Jets fan know about the HOF anyway. 173 TD's-220 INT's. Cracks me up everytime I think about it.

Looking good for the future. There won't be a cap in a few years.

Zach was good to very good but never great. He is not right there w/ Urlacher, Lewis, Seau, Bruschi, etc...
